June 12, 2385Sitting around a fire four Klingon warriors sang chants in almost a sing song way. They had been drinking blood wine, and it now certain, none of them would remember this in the following morning. "I was beaten, tied up, forced to fight, but I showed them." The thirty-two year old Klingon had a warrior tone in her voice. "I slayed anyone they put in front of me." She looked up and around at her friends, and she smiled slightly. They continued to drink into the night telling stories and chanting in a jumble of words. <K'Lin... K'Lin it is time to get up.> A Klingon voice hummed throughout the room. K'Lin rolled over to see her brother on her computer console. K'Lin had missed not seeing her brother. They had joined Starfleet together, and many years ago, even served together. She had made a connection with her brother when their father died during the Klingon Civil War. "Good morning, my brother." She smiled as she rose out of her bed, and began to dress herself for her daily routines. <K'Lin it has been too long, I have missed you. When will you be returning to duty?> Her brother K'Tag served onboard Starbase 901, he seamed to enjoy it there. K'Lin had taken an extended leave of absence from Starfleet after being held as a prisoner of war by the dominion. She had done some assignments from her family home on Qo'nos for Starfleet intelligence, but had not yet returned to full duty. "I don't know, brother. Things have become quiet comfortable here. I finally have begun to pull my life back together." Truly the scars on her body, where deeper than the pain she endured. <I have talked to my Captain, and I could have you posted here on the Starbase...> "No, I would never expect you to pull favour, for me. I will find my own placement in my own time." The two continued their normal daily talk, and after K'Lin went about her normal routine.
June 17, 2385<Beep...Beep...> K'Lin returned from Ambassador Worf's office, she had been doing some classified work with him, to find an incoming message coming across her computer. "This is K'Lin, go ahead." She had assumed it would be her brother, probably about her returning to duty. <Lieutenant K'Lin?> A stunning voice came across her computer. "Lieutenant Junior Grade K'Lin" She corrected him. <My name is Commander A. J. Buford of the USS Taurus, I am requesting your presence aboard my ship.> "Sir, I haven't been on active duty for a very long time, I'm sure you could find someone else with more experience." <I have read and reviewed your record, and I am very impressed with your dedication and service during the dominion war. I am requesting you to come aboard and serve the ship as chief intelligence officer. Will you please accept my offer?> "Did my brother put you up to this?" Buford began to shake his head side to side. "Oh, well in that case, I will accept your offer." <You will need to report to space dock as soon as possible.> "Yes, sir. K'Lin out." And with that the screen in front of her disappeared she was very stunned, never had she thought she would be offered a post, let alone a department head position. She made plans to board a bird of prey heading in that direction, and took a deep breath to relax herself, and began to pack her belongings. |
