Garet walked down the corridors of the science complex alone, searching for some of the Jem'Hadar who had destroyed it. He felt tense seeing as how this was his first actual field mission. Having his special made phaser with sniping scope held fast he scoped the surrounding area. The smell of death and decay reached out to him like a cold promise of his future demise. Science equipment, phasers, and documents were scattered everywhere. He decided to pick through a few to see if he could find anything of some importance, but there was just too much waste and too little time. Suddenly he stood up and fired a phaser blast into the haze in front of him as yet another of the pig-like creatures fell dead in front of him. It was his third kill already and found out they were easy to spot due to a certain gleam in their eyes that he could spot even in the darkest corners. As he turned a corner he noticed someone lying on the ground and hurridly ran over to check on them. He turned them over to check for a pulse but immediately realized the hole in their chest. He was starting to believe that there were either very few or no survivors left. The Jem'Hadar were a very violent culture, believing pity to be disgraceful. He continued his search for almost an hour and was about to give up when he saw a hidden door he had overlooked earlier. As he fondled with the locks he could sense a certain tension about the room he was about to enter, he couldn't right tell what it was but he knew something wasn't right. Finally he managed to pick the lock and entered a dome shaped room with a high arch and tunnels leading in many directions. But just before he was able to become comfortable, he started firing in multiple phaser blasts at the oncoming group of pig creatures. This must have been what he thought was wrong, but it didnt seem to fit. He had almost desposed of all the creatures when one last creature pounced from a corner behind him and onto his back ripping into his flesh. His phaser dropped to the floor as he began to struggle with the creature. He was able to grab hold of the creatures tusks and the room was immediately filled with the sounds of bone breaking as he snapped the creature's neck and threw it to the ground. He reached down and picked up his gun, finally aware of how deep his wound really was. He was beginning to turn to find the group when a phaser blast shot out of nowhere...catching him right in the chest. He fired back in the direction of his attacker and heard a loud grunt. As he wobbled over to his wouldbe killer, he noticed it to be a Jem'Hadar warrior, probably a stray left behind. Garet had been succesful in defeating is attacker with a shot that had just missed the soldiers head, causing a piece of debris to fall onto the Jem'Hadar's head knocking him out. He could provide useful. thought Garet to himself, Better bring him back to the others. Completely ignoring his own pain, Garet began to carry the warrior back through the tunnels to his crew in waiting. The walk seemed to take forever and he could feel his wounds more openly now. Finally after what seemed like forever he turned the corner to meet up with his other Marines along with the medic Lieutenent Rahel Kahfre. And as he saw his men begin to run towards him, he remembered saying, "Got a present for ya Fleeter." And then it all went black. |
