Face to Face

Logan was on his way to holodeck one, looking for Doctor Kahfre. The computer had said that she was in the holodeck, which Logan had thought strange. It was just after 21:00 hours and Logan knew that Rahel had been working through the previous days Gamma shift and the day’s Alpha shift. Even with Rahel’s physiology, what little Logan knew about it, he realised that the Doctor should have been resting if not asleep.

He was looking for the Doctor, because after they had spoken with the Vorta Sabá about the link between the current missing Jem’Hadar and a Jem’Hadar called Goran’Agar, she had come up trumps.

He checked the holodeck console and saw that the programme was still running and activated the door. As he stepped inside, he looked around at the forest environment and noticed several dead bodies. Logan didn’t recognise the species, but he knew a dead body when he saw it. One had his neck obviously broken, his head all lopsided, the other two had obviously been killed using some kind of knife. One had been hit in the chest, probably piercing the heart, the other hit in the throat.

Then he heard further commotion and stepped through the trees and saw Doctor Kahfre surrounded by at least six more men. One by one, she quickly despatched them, one running away scared out of his wits. As she broke the neck of the last assailant, Logan approached from behind and tried to place a hand on her shoulder. Bad idea.

Almost instantaneously, Rahel spun around and pushed the heel of her hand straight into the chin of Logan, who dropped backwards onto the ground. Unable to speak, due partly to the pain and partly due to the large amounts of blood filling his mouth from when he’d bitten his tongue, he tried to motion to her that he was OK.

"Oh my god ! Oh my god ! Are you all right? Are you bleeding or swelling ?" Rahel asked almost frantic. "Do we need to get you to sickbay ?"
