Fitting In

As James Wright settled into his cosy newly assigned quarters on the USS Taurus, his new assignment. He began to feel slightly cold. James was not often cold and always made sure he had the room temperature turned up for comfort. James always loves comfort. Slightly shivering, but undetectable to to the eye, he spoke to the computer.

"Computer, increase heat to 20 degrees Celsius."

As the room heated up, the doorbell chimed.

"Come in."

Standing in the doorway was Lieutenant M'eko J'ross, the Taurus first officer. She was a Caitian, a feline race and he had heard rumours, back in the Alpha Quadrant that she was a fine officer, if inexperienced XO. James didn't doubt it.

"I'd like to introduce myself. I am Lieutenant J'ross, the first officer aboard the Starship Taurus. You are James Wright if I'm not mistaken. I thought it was time we got to know each other a little better. I hadn't had much time since I learnt of your assignment to the Taurus"

James nodded, "Yes that's true." Thinking of something to do in case an awkward silence fell on the conversation, "Would you like a drink Lieutenant ?"

"No thank you." M'eko said quite kindly infact. "You know the mission ?"

"Not very much." James replied, feeling a little ashamed. "I have unfortunately failed to really understand the mission. Could you fill me in ?"

"Shall we go to the 'Bulls Head'. The room is a little warm for my liking." M'eko suggested.

"Very Well." The officers strode out James quarters, the door shutting behind them.
