Larn Yasnyl

Background

Born on Bajor, Yasnyl, or Yaz as most people call him, took part in the Bajoran Resistance like so many other Bajorans. He saw many of his friends and comrades fall and die, but unlike most Bajorans, didn't harbour as many bad feelings towards the Cardassians. After all, most were just soldiers doing their jobs. When the Resistance ended, Yaz waited a year until he was 18 and joined the Bajoran Militia. His first assignment was to Deep Space Nine, which most Bajorans at the time new as Terok Nor, the station that the Cardassian's had manned before.

While on DS9, Yaz got on incredibly well with other species. This came to the attention ot the Bajoran Provisional Government and he was recruited into the diplomatic sector with a promotion to Lieutenant. From here, Yaz had a chance to shine. By request of the Bajoran Government, he was initially posted aboard the USS Churchill as it explored the Gamma Quadrant beyond the wormhole. He gained another promotion here, after negotiating the Churchill's crew out of a particularly tight spot after encountering a prevoiously unknown race called the Proktolans.

Now a Captain, Yaz was reassigned to Bajor when the Dominion War began. He spent the war on Bajor. It was not until after the war that Yaz was sent out again on another Federation starship, the USS Emperor.

In 2384, Yaz was recalled to Bajor again. Now a Major, he was given a new assignment. The Federation was beginning to explore unknown territory beyond the Briar Patch. Yaz was to be assigned as liason officer and diplomat to the ship leading this exploration... the USS Hornet.

Personality

Likeable and light hearted, Yaz is one to put the crew at ease, and also a good person to turn to for advice or a shoulder to cry on. Not many people have seen him angry, but those who have are sorry they messed with him. This isn't usually a problem though, as he has to be calm and collected especially as a diplomat.
