"Not as Passive as We Were Led to Believe"

Author: Ensign Myron Okul
Earthdate: December 3, 2384
Location: Nipron II

Myron had stayed up all night reading the history of the Nipron people and finalizing a report to Commodore Wallace. Myron thought very much that these people had deceived Wallace very much, and that angered Okul. The young Ensign also felt as though he had read both the history of his people and the history of the Klingon Empire. It was a bit uneasy for him to figure out how he was going to break this to the Commodore, for Wallace seemed extremely hopeful for a peaceful and eventful first contact.

Myron walked out of his temporary quarters and made his way to Commodore Wallace's. As he headed in that direction he kept telling himself, Easy Okul, just give him the facts and be forward. Don't be too afraid to report the truth, after all what good would it be to keep his hopes high in the clouds. The walk only took a few minutes and he was to Wallace's quarters. Myron walked in and stood at attention.

"Ensign Okul reporting as ordered with findings and report in hand sir."

Wallace was standing by a window overlooking a lake and turned around and looked over the Cardassian Ensign. "At ease. So tell me what news have you brought me?"

"Sir, I regret to inform you these people aren't what they claim to be." Myron took a minute to pause and look at Wallace's face which showed no signs of surprise.

"Tell me Ensign, what else I don't know."

"Sir, these people for 212 years were a warrior race much worse then what the Klingons were. They raged a ruthless war against three races. So ruthless they pretty much obliterated the species. They took no prisoners." Okul handed Wallace a PADD containing the report.

"In the early part of the 24th century they had a major change in political power. The Military way of life had cost them dearly. They decided to become a group of Scientist, so by the time the Mullurans showed up they had no will to fight.

"Some however fought with the Mullurans during the Briar Patch War. They suffered 3200 casualties." Wallace was begin to show some signs of anger and started to pace the floor.

"I also know what happened to the original colonists of Morristown," Okul said seeing Wallace perk his head up.

"What, Ensign?"

"They were taken here and interrogated and then executed as enemies of the Mulluran Empire, back in June." Okul stopped speaking and waited for all this to soak into Commodore Wallace's mind. Wallace shook his head in a disapproving way. Myron was starting not to like these people. He felt that they had lied and not been truthful from the start.

"That'll be all Ensign. Wait-- I want you to keep this to yourself. I'll hold a senior staff meeting at 2130 hours on the Hornet. I want all the staff to know everything and give me their feedback. Before then I want to see if you can tell if these people would be a threat again. Observe their military officers' attitudes and such. Dismissed," Wallace said as he walked over to a desk of sorts.

Myron knew he had to keep his cool during the next nine hours and not allow his personal feelings to get in the way. It would hard, but he kept telling himself it could and would be done.
