The bridge staff were at their post and were waiting for the Ops officer Mr. Harris to report their position.
"Sir, we are entering the Zorana star system. Last known charting, April 13th 2377, by the USS Pasture," Harris said informing the whole bridge crew.
Pike stood up and spoke so all could hear him. "The last Federation starship spent 4 hours here and left because of the long trip to DS9. Tell me Ensign Harris, what is in this system."
"Sir. Six planets -- three M-Class, two F-Class and one G-Class planet."
Pike looked around the bridge and at Ensign Tunis. "Mr. Tunis. Gather as much information as you can from the scanners and then report to the staff briefing in two hours." He turned and walked off the bridge to his ready room.
Tunis walked over to tactical and launched a Class XVI probe. The results would get back to him in half an hour. He took a PADD and started to download information from the sensors taken by Ensign Harris.
He completed his task on time and walked into the conference room and started to show his information as soon as Commodore Pike said, "Well Ensign? Speak."
Tunis went over to the view screen and pressed a few buttons. The screen showed the star system in all it glory. "Okay. This planet here -- Zorana II -- is about the size of Earth's moon. It is covered by mostly jungle and woodlands. The life forms are small, much like mammals and reptiles. The planet is rich in iron and gold."
The screen showed a close up of the next planet from space. "This planet -- Zorana VI -- is basically the same as Zorana II. But Zorana IV is more interesting than II or VI. It contains life forms of possibly humanoid nature, what was once buildings of sorts, and what appears to be a very rich source of dilithium. It is 92% woodland."
Pike was interested in all three planets and wanted to explore them all. "Very well Ensign Tunis.
I want you to take a runabout and three other people. You are to explore Zorana IV find out all you can and investigate those humanoid readings. Ensign Shatora. Take a team and explore Zorana VI. Pick your men and take two days of rations and supplies. Leave at 0630 hours tomorrow."
Tunis was excited now that he was going to be charting and investigating the mystery before him.
