"Revenge Is A Dish Best Served Cold"

The battle had begun well for the Knight, but the Han'gosian shielding wasn't as effective as the crew originally thought. The shielding was meant to make ships almost impossible to hit but somehow the Kelvans were finding ways to bring the shields down. Nige was finding the mission difficult to perform on his own. He just hoped that the distraction he created would kick in soon, so that Kira could take the Knight, once again, back in time. He looked across at a little blinking light on the panel in front of him. It showed the shields at 52%.

[Thomas to Tyran.]

"Go ahead Commander. Haven't heard from you in a while. How many have you taken down now?"

[Thirteen.]

"I'm still ahead. I've got fifteen!"

[Good shooting Lieutenant. Keep up the good work.]

Nige had become quite friendly with Commander Thomas during the battle. They even had a bet going to see who could take down the most fighters. Nige looked out of the window. Outside there was total chaos. The Starfleet shuttles were severely outnumbered. Every now and again one of them would come up behind a Kelvan fighter, fire a torpedo at their shield generator and if that didn't finish them they would finish them off with phasers. Nige's cockpit shuddered and the flashing light began to blink again - shields were at 48%.

[Lieutenant, you've got a fighter on your tail!]

"I can't shake him!"

[Don't worry, I've got him.]

Nige looked at the sensor screen on the control panel and the light behind the Mekong went out.

[Got Him!!!]

"Thanks sir. I owe you one."

[Don't worry about it. If I were you I'd be more worried about where your next kill is coming from. I'm up to sixteen now, looks like your the one buying lunch.]

Nige brought the Mekong round so that the Knight and the other two ships were in his view. The Knight was getting swamped by fighters the Orion didn't seem much better off. The Gettysburg was on fire and spinning out of control. Nige set a course back to the ships to see if he could lend a hand. The Knight was doing remarkably well. Every shot hit its target with deadly accuracy. But there were too many fighters for the Knight to cope with. Nige flew in from behind and before the Kelvans had a chance to react Nige had launched five torpedoes, taking out and disabling one ship. Some of the fighters then broke off their attack and turned on the Mekong. Nige saw three fighters moving directly at him. He took out the middle one but the two wingmen kept coming. At that moment, two torpedoes came from behind, blowing up the other two fighters.

[Thought you could use a hand Lieutenant!] shouted Commander Thomas.

"Thanks again." Commander Thomas's shuttle came around in front of the Mekong and proceeded to help the Orion. As he pulled off, eight fighters came into formation behind his shuttle.

[Nige, help me!!!] he shouted.

Nige came about and fired all the torpedoes and phasers he could. He took out five of the fighters but the other three destroyed Commander Thomas' shuttle. Nige, with a new anger inside of him, took out the three other fighters and turned back towards the battle. He just took out another fighter when a Kelvan materialized in the back of his runabout. Nige grabbed a phaser, swung round and shot the Kelvan's belt. Nige then walked up to the Kelvan. The Kelvan, confused as to why Nige had not just killed him stood there in wonder. Nige stepped up almost to the Kelvan's face and looked him straight in the eyes. He dropped his phaser and took a defensive stance. The Kelvan now understood what Nige was doing and threw a punch at Nige. Nige blocked and punched back. The Kelvan's head jerked backwards and Nige continued to punch him. The Kelvan fell to the floor but tripped Nige up. The Kelvan quickly stood back up and kicked Nige in the chest. The Kelvan walked over to where Nige had thrown the phaser and picked it up. Nige got up and kicked the Kelvan in the stomach. He gave a few quick jabs to the chest and then grabbed the Kelvan by the neck, swung him over his shoulder and held him there.

"Why don't you just snap my neck and finish me?!" demanded the Kelvan.

"Because I want to savor this moment. You destroyed Bajor - My home. You killed my family and every one I once new there. We fought so hard to free ourselves from the Cardassians and now it's all gone. I don't know if you can understand how I feel about that but understand this. I'm out for revenge and I won't rest until every last Kelvan on your godforsaken planet has been killed!" With that, Nige snapped his neck. Nige felt his revenge was being fulfilled. He was enjoying himself. He knew that it was wrong to kill and to enjoy doing it, but he couldn't help himself. He walked back to his chair and sat down again. He looked at the monitor and it showed almost two hundred Kelvan fighters entering the battlefield with thirty Federation ships left. The Knight wasn't even close enough to fire the Genesis device.

"Tyran to Kira."

[Kira Here.]

"What the hell are you doing? My distraction should have gone off by now. Why haven't we gone back in time?!"

[I need more time to prepare. I've set a new distraction, just hold on for a few more minutes Tyran. Pretty soon you'll be seeing Bajor again!]
