After recovering from when he was attacked by the Protector, Nige decided to use some of the free time Captain Osagawa had granted him and the rest of the crew exploring the promenade of Deep Space 9.
Nige and Dinara stepped out of the airlock and onto the promenade. It was full of people and was filled with a lot more Starfleet officers than what was usually seen at a commercial part of a space station like this.
"Nige, do you have any idea what is going on ? I mean, what are all these ships for and why have we been recalled here so urgently?" Dinara asked
"I have absolutely no idea. All I know is that we have been called back to help capture a runaway Admiral who is working with a race called the Bariens. I assume that these ships have been called here to go with us in case we get into trouble."
"I see."
"Tumock won't tell me anything about it. Let's see if we can find someone around here who may know." Nige and Dinara wandered through the promenade but could not find an officer with a rank higher than Lieutenant. They questioned a few Lieutenants, but could not find out anything they didn't already know. They eventually came to Quark's, so they sat down and ordered a drink.
"Nige, look over there" Dinara said pointing to two officers in red uniforms sitting in a corner. "Is he a Captain?"
"It looks like."
"He would probably know."
"I can't just walk up to a Captain I don't even know and ask him what is going on."
"You want to find out don't you?"
"I suppose... All right I'll ask him." Nige stood up and walked over to the Captain's table. Nige walked up and stood at the table.
"Can I help you, lieutenant.....?"
"Tyran, Lieutenant Nige Tyran"
"Captain Ryan Evans, pleased to meet you Mr. Tyran. So how can I help you?"
"Yes, umm, do you have any idea what is going on,Captain? It's just that nobody seems to have a clue what is going on." Nige asked nervously.
"I'm afraid not Lieutenant, I don't know anything and nor do most other Captains I've spoken to. Starfleet seem to be keeping this one close to their chests."
"It seems pretty big though, I caught a glimpse of Admirals Ross and McCaffee on the station. If they're around, then this fleet must have a very important purpose," added the Commander sitting next to him.
"Well I'm sorry I can't help you, Lieutenant."
"That's okay, sir, have a good day."
"Thank you Lieutenant." With that Nige turned and hurried back to where Dinara was sitting.
"Well, what did he say?"
"He doesn't know anything either."
"Hmmm, what are we doing here?"
