Tumock sat at his deck in his ready room, reading over engineering’s latest report. The room was quiet and Tumock was in deep concentration as he carefully took in what he was reading word for word. Then at that moment the 'bell' sounded.
"Come" Tumock replied to the noise which ad disturbed him of his task. The doors slid open allowing Lieutenant Tyran Nige to enter the ready room.
"Sorry to disturb you captain, but all the supplies are on board and accounted for, and all the colonists are safely in their rooms" said Nige handing a PADD to Tumock.
"Thank you Lieutenant" Tumock placed the PADD on his desk and swivelled his chair so he faced Nige. "I have come to a decision and would like to promote you to the rank of Lieutenant Commander and give you the post of acting first officer, till the time comes when you can be promoted and given the full position" Tumock paused and looked at him. "If you are willing that is".
"Yes sir, I would happily accept the post. Replied Nige with a smile building on his face.
"Very well, congratulations...... Commander" replied Tumock. "If there is nothing else you are dismissed"
Nige stood to attention before turning and leaving the room, shortly followed by Tumock. As Tumock sat at his chair he opened a communication channel for the entire ship.
"This is Captain Tumock to the crew of the Knight, we shall be departing soon to Starbase 901 to deliver supplies. I would also like to announce that Lieutenant Tyran Nige is to be promoted to Lieutenant Commander and given the position of acting first officer. That is all" said Tumock closing the channel.
Tumock then raised his head and look towards Churok at helm.
"Helm, take us out of orbit and set a course for Starbase 901, warp 5"
"Aye sir, course laid in" replied Churok
"Engage."
