First Officer
Human
Lataro's parents were Captain Timothy Lataro (Deceased) and Loretta Lataro (Deceased). He obtained the Captain James T. Kirk Award for academic achievement. He was Top One Percent of his class and displayed remarkable startegic and tactical insights in the Kobayashi Maru Simulation. "If there was a solution to this simulation then Cadet Lataro could have found it." He received First Place in the Intramural Martial Arts Contest. At a young age Jonathan had displayed aggressive tendencies and behaviors. His father, Captain Timothy Lataro of the USS Vixen, a Nebula Class Starship, had hoped that time aboard the Vixen would help control his behavior since Lataro had become involved with some bad elements. Jonathan Lataro is an excellent and even brilliant cadet when it comes to academics and real life scenarios. However some things that do concern the panel is his head strong attitude. He is hot tempered, and when his temper is lost, then he has no control of his actions. In his earlier years he has had a few problems with the temper, social skills, and interpersonal communication skills, but through his academy years he has learned to control it. This can be explained probably by the time he spent on what is now known as Xylius VII and the loss of his parents. Once this is properly harnessed and used constructively he can be a very strong asset. At this time, Lieutenant Lataro has demonstrated above and beyond the requirements for commissioning, but it is recommended that he sees a counselor to harness this personal power. The board finds that Lieutenant Lataro is fit for duty and is ready for assignment. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, and then Lieutenant Commander, in the beginning of 2382 for his outstanding abilities as Chief Security Officer. Later, on October 25, 2382, Lataro was promoted to First Officer with the rank of Commander following the death of the previous First Officer, Commander Surok.
He married Lt. Commander K'Lara in March 2383. On April 3, 2383, his
first son was born: T'Lan Alexander Lataro.
