Ensign K'Lara heard the exchange between Lt. Lataro and Captain Maruu, and shook her head. Only four days into the mission and already there were problems. It wasn't even lunch time, yet.

This is going to be a very interesting mission, she thought.

K'Lara continued to stare at the stars as they streaked by at warp seven. They had slowed down a bit since leaving DS15. She tried to keep her mind from wandering, but it couldn't be helped. She imagined what a battle with the Jem'Hadar would be like, even though she knew it would be many years before they even neared Dominion space. She smiled as the images came to her mind. Her eyes glazed over, but before it could go any further, she felt a tap on her shoulder.

K'Lara jumped and almost took the poor Ensign's head off. When she saw who it was, she relaxed.

I have got to quite daydreaming, she told herself.

K'Lara nodded to the relief Ensign, informed him off what was happening with the controls, then headed for the turbolift and lunch.

In the Mess Hall, she went over the replicator and ordered her meal. It appeared before her and she took it and headed for a table. She found one in the corner and sat down. She looked at the PADD she had with her and began to write her report. Not much to report on, but it was better than daydreaming.

She hoped there would be action soon. She didn't want to be daydreaming and be caught reacting to what she was dreaming about. That had happened one two many times on the Klingon ship. She was almost removed the last time. Her father had convinced the captain to let her stay as pilot, but her time at the helm was reduced until she could concentrate on her duties.

K'Lara sighed. She just had too many problems and none of them had anything to do with her job.
