"The Aftermath"

Author: Ensign K'Lara
Stardate: 2458967

Location: USS Virgo

Ensign K'Lara stared at the stars going by at warp nine. The adrenaline rush that she had when she was getting the Virgo away from the other ship was over. She relaxed in her chair and let out a small sigh.

Ah well. Maybe next time, K'Lara thought as she replayed her own battle with the Kirusan ship in her mind.

K'Lara shook herself awake, No more daydreaming, Ensign!

She let out a small growl which the Captain heard.

"Problem, Ensign?" He said, almost amused.

K'Lara blushed a little, "No, sir. Just trying to stay awake."

Maruu smiled. He knew it wasn't good when his officers started daydreaming. Especially if it was his pilot. He shook his head, "Slow to warp seven, Ensign."

"Aye, sir. Slowing to warp seven." K'Lara's hands danced across the console as she slowed the ship. She looked at the readings then said, "Warp seven point two, sir."

Maruu nodded, though she couldn't see it, "Good. Now go take a break. Let someone else have a go at the controls."

K'Lara nodded and spun around. She saw the relief coming toward her. She briefed the crewman on the controls, then, nodding to the Captain, left the Bridge.

What to do. What to do, K'Lara thought as the doors closed. An idea then came to her.

"Holodeck Two." She felt the turbolift go down as she ran what programs to run in her head. She finally came to one as the doors opened onto the deck. She exited the lift and headed for the Holodeck.

K'Lara rounded the corner and collided with Lt. Lataro.

"Watch where you are going!" K'Lara growled as she restrained her urge to back hand him. In truth, they both should have been watching where they were going. As usual, K'Lara was on auto-pilot.

"Was that an order, Ensign?" Lataro said, almost smiling.

K'Lara looked up and saw the Lieutenant pips on his collar. She blushed and looked down at his feet.

"Nice boots," she said, almost smiling.

"I take you're looking down as a 'no'?" he asked, his grin bigger.

K'Lara's eyes snapped up and her blush began spreading across her face. She cleared her throat and spoke, "No, Lieutenant... I mean yes, Lieutenant. I mean, sorry, sir. I'll be on my way."

K'Lara ducked around the corner before Lataro could say a word. He shook off his own embarrassment and headed down the hall.

K'Lara stopped in the middle of the hall before she entered the Holodeck. A thought crossed her mind, I wonder if he would be willing to relay what happened on that ship to me?

She dismissed the thought at once. Why would a Lieutenant want to tell an ensign of his adventures? She shrugged and tapped in her program into the computer. She sighed and went in.

Guess, a Klingon martial arts program will have to do.
