"Captain's Log: Stardate 59107.8. We've finally left the Paradise planet of Denmar IV. After a bit of negotiations with General Pemon and some other, more personal, activities, we've managed to get the whole crew back on the ship. We now have a treaty signed with the Jeorri, and on the rest of our journey, we will accompanied by one Jeorri vessel, led by Major Kidel. We instructed the Jeorri on how to use a warp engine which is more easily, and cheaply, fueled. I'm sure that knowledge will aid them tremendously. After a week of high warp travel through the Taboo Sector, we've crossed the barrier and are now back in Kirusan space. Currently, we are traveling to Volvan, a small planet just outside the Taboo Sector, as a personal favor to Second Lieutenant Lili Roen who was been very helpful during the trip. I, however, hope to come in contact with her after today. Nevertheless, I must retain my objectivity as Captain of this vessel, and keep her on her mission."

"Lieutenant, all stop," said Maruu as the Virgo approached Volvan. He directed his attention at Roen, "Is that Volvan?"

Roen smiled. "Yes, Stephen... I mean... Captain."

Maruu smiled. "Ensign Valdago, hail the surface."

"Yes, sir. I vill."

"Ensign," wondered Maruu. "You have a very thick accent. What language are you attempting to speak?"

"English, sir. Is there a problem?"

"Yes, actually. Your files say that you are Russian. I believe that if you speak Russian, the Universal Translator will understand it better, and we will understand you better as a result. From now on, you will speak Russian, is that clear?"

"Yes, sir. I will. Hey! It works!" Ensign Valdago was overjoyed at being able to speak his own language. He was never too comfortable speaking English.

"Good. Now hail the surface."

Suddenly, an image appeared on the viewscreen. "Welcome to Volvan, Captain. I'm Gian Roen."

Lili Roen smiled. "Hello, Daddy."

"Hello, Lili." He, too, smiled.

Lataro began to sweat. He was no longer uncomfortable at seeing the Jeorri, who were the genetic cousins of the Jem'Hadar. No, this time, it was something else. "Captain, I'm getting six, massive radiation readings heading this way."

Gian Roen heard the sensor reading and became terrified. "Captain! Get Lili out of here!"

Lili began to yell. "Not without you, Daddy!"

Maruu was confused. "What's going on?!"

Gian Roen became angry. "If you don't leave with my daughter immediately, we will open fire on your ship."

"A force field has just surrounded the planet's atmosphere!" yelled Lataro.

"Get out of here now, Captain!" yelled Gian Roen.

Immediately, a disrupter blast shook the Virgo.

"Should I return fire, Captain?" asked Lataro.

"No." He was wondering if there was a reason. Gian Roen wouldn't want to harm his daughter, anyone could figure that out. "Get us out of here. Inform Major Kidel on the Jeorri vessel. Get us out of here, K'Lara. Now!"

Lataro viewed his sensor screen. "Six Kirusan warships have just dropped out of warp. One is pursuing."

Maruu was openmouthed. "Warships? Oh, my god. Evasive maneuvers!"

The warship shot a torpedo from one of two huge tubes that it had on its hull. The torpedo hit the Jeorri warship giving off a nuclear blast that left naught but atoms of that vessel, and compromised the hull of the Virgo. Ensign Crell flew off his console, dead from his plasma burns.

Lili Roen began to yell. "Lieutenant! Fire a torpedo at the warship's right expulsion tube right when you see a major gravity wave disruption on your sensors!"

Lataro was skeptical. "Captain?"

"Do it!" he yelled.

Lataro complied. The photon torpedo reached the tube just before the nuclear torpedo was being ejected. It exploded less than a meter from the warship causing it to explode.

"Computer, show Volvan on the viewscreen," demanded Lt. Lili Roen.

The viewscreen showed a planet glowing yellow from radiation.

Lataro looked at his sensors. "There is no sign of life on the planet." He looked at Lt. Roen. "I'm sorry."

Maruu hugged her. He was extremely saddened by the death of her planet and family. "Oh, Lili."

She hugged him and then separated herself from him. "I'll be staying on your ship for the rest of your voyage. Then, I will return to the Federation with you. There's nothing left for me here. I'll be in my quarters." She left the Bridge.

Maruu and the rest were silent as they pondered on what they had just seen.
