"Chased Down the Rabbit Hole Too"

Author: Lieutenant JG Skywon
Earthdate: June 22, 2001
Location: USS Virgo

Skywon went to the transporter room with a mob in his hand. "I guess I'll clean up after the Human." He had been in a bad mood.

"If this is going to happen every time, we'll need more room in Sickbay. We have limited space, you know." He had mopped up the mess and lifted up Jovani. "I'll take him to Sickbay."

Katianna had just rolled her eyes. "Yeah," is all she had said.

Skywon had laid Jovani on one of the beds. "Are you Jovani Burgos?"

Jo nodded his head.

"Thought so."

"Where is Dana?" Jovani had asked.

Skywon had just busied himself with getting the right equipment. "Okay. I'm going to run a quick scan and find out what's wrong. This will not hurt." As he ran the scanner all around Jo's body, it began to beep around where his heart is. "Ah. Just what I thought." He put the scanner down and brought over a couple of medical tools. There were a few short stabs of pain in Jo, but it was over in a couple minutes. "Would you like something to read, drink, eat?"

"I'd like to read and please get me something to drink."

"I'll get you those."

"What happened here?" Agent Nicholas Pierce had arrived on the scene.

"We shot at him, sir, then he disappeared."

Pierce cursed. "Transported. Figures." He looked at his agent. "Get rid of the cops. Then, go to plan B. If we can't get to Mr. Burgos, we'll get to the rest of that damn RPG."

Skywon brought a few PADDs and a black hole for Jovani. The books were "English Classics" according to Earthlings. Jo had a choice of Pride and Prejudice, Silace Marner, Hound of the Baskervilles, and a compilation of Edgar Allen Poe's Greatest Poems.

"Enjoy."

Skywon walked up and sighed. "Why do we have to worry about them?"

Dana came up from the other side of the bridge. "Because, Skywon, they are in danger. Their government is pursuing them to get more information about one of our runabouts. We're bound to set things right by our Prime Directive. It's a shame really, everyone's out to get someone nowadays." She paused. "You're in a foul mood today."

"I was awakened from what humans call, a 'dream.' It was very pleasant. It had a Human woman in it and we had a family of Vulcan-Human children. They loved to 'shop.'"

Location: Earth

Brandon was sitting in front of his computer, typing an email to one of his friends when his sister, Meghan, came into his room. Her face was a mixture of worry and fear. "Turn on the TV out here." she said.

Brandon went into the living room and turned on the TV. There was a reporter with dark hair standing in front of a mass of people that were either screaming, crying, silent, or having heart attacks. Paramedics were everywhere. Police were taking notes. Throughout all the commotion, the reporter was calm about the whole thing.

"It seems that there have been other mysterious disappearances like this one without any explanation. We were still looking for Jovani Burgos when Krystina Stressman and her children disappeared last night. What do these people all have in common? We're not sure. But..." Brandon flipped off the TV.

"Aren't those two people part of that RPG thingy you're a part of?" Meghan was wringing her hands in the recliner that wasn't reclining.

"Yes. They are." Brandon slowly walked back to the computer when he noticed an email he hadn't opened. It was from Jo.

He opened it and read it. If he hadn't seen the news, he wouldn't have believed it. Sharp knocks came from the door.

"OPEN UP!" The dog began to bark furiously. Brandon turned to Meghan. "Where's Mom and Dad?" she looked surprised at his question. "On their second honeymoon, why?"

The door began to break at the hinges. They were using a battering ram.

Long seconds passed. The door exploded off its hinges. "RUN!" Brandon grabbed Meghan's night shirt sleeve and tore off to the back door. He opened it and ran towards the woods behind his house. Men in black uniforms came streaming out after them. They had guns but couldn't aim well.

A tingling sensation came over Brandon as a gunshot narrowly missed his leg. Soon he was wrapped in a "cocoon" of light.

"Wake up." Brandon opened his eyes. He was lying on what seemed like the set for a Star Trek movie. He looked around and saw people in uniforms and people in regular clothing.

A Vulcan walked up to him and his eyes opened in shock. "Is, that, me?" The Vulcan asked no one in particular.

A chuckle. "Not particularly, but yes, that's you. Skywon, meet Brandon Hensley. Brandon, Skywon."

Brandon sat bolt upright. "Jo? What are you doing here?"

"I've been here awhile. It's a long story, not much unlike yours."

Brandon looked around and saw others that looked human and others that were most definitely not human. Skywon held out his hand. "Let me help you up."

Brandon stood. "Where's Meghan?"

"Brandon? Where are we?" asked a voice from behind him. It was Meghan. They embraced.

Krystina came over and placed her hand on his shoulder. "She never became part of this RPG, but she wouldn't have been safe had we left her on Earth."

Brandon looked around for some sort of home-like element to make him get his bearings. "Where are the others? Why am I here?"

Jo looked at the floor for a moment then looked back to Brandon. "Everyone from the RPG is in danger. We have yet to get the others."

Brandon just sat back down and tried to make sense of everything.
