BackgroundDylan was born on the Federation research station Andromeda in the Trill system, his parents both being science officers on the station. Because of the station's slightly higher than Earth gravity (A concession to the Trill onboard) Dylan developed into strong adult. At an early age, he showed great interest in space and dreamed of becoming a pilot. He left Andromeda station in 2372 to attend Starfleet Academy, but he found the academic side of the courses he took hard. He barely graduatedfrom the academy in 2376 and was assigned as a shuttle pilot on a Nova class vessel. Whilst he was an excellent pilot, he was not an excellent Starfleet officer and in 2380 he was finally dishonourably discharged from Starfleet after repeated incidents. Without Starfleet to fall back on, he soon found himself with nothing to sustain himself with and took to offering his piloting skills in exchange for passage across Federation space. In 2382, he was offered a position as Helm & Navigational officer on a Klingon Raptor named Firefly, owned and operated by a Captain Jack Stryker. At first Dylan declined the offer, preferring to remain a free agent, but eventually took up Captain Stryker's offer and joined the small crew of Firefly, where he soon found that flying the vessel was very much a challenge. Whilst Captain Stryker and Dylan do not always see 'eye-2-eye', Dylan has learnt over the years he has worked with him to respect Captain Stryker's authority. Dylan also started a relationship with the Firefly's first officer, Rebecka Valentine, an old friend of Captain Stryker's. Although Beka and Jack never had a relationship beyond being close friends, Dylan has always felt that somehow Jack resents the relationship Dylan and Beka have formed.
