A New Beginning

USS Eclipse

Lily was getting packed up to leave for her new assignment, she was really looking forward to her new post. However she couldn't help feeling a little emotional. This starship carried not only the name of the ship her father commanded but also the friends that she would be leaving behind.

While packing some things she came across a picture of her father, mother, her two sisters and herself. All of a sudden she didn't feel that excited leaving the Eclipse, even if it wasn't the ship her father commanded. The feelings were still there. She was lucky to get the post here. However, she put the photo in her bag and zipped it up, that was her all ready to go. She got up and took a look at her quarters, how she was going to miss this ship. She left her quarters and headed for the transporter Room.

As she walked through the corridor she bumped into an old friend, "Bella..." she said as her eyes filled with tears of sadness, "I'm gonna miss you,"

"Me too" Bella replied as she hugged her tightly.

"I'll write to you every week." Lily said trying to make the departure as painless as possible. The two female Officers stood in the corridor, emotional for a couple of minutes, "Well I better go. Bye Bella" Lily said as she gave her a tight squeeze then let her go and continued to the transporter room.

As she arrived at the doors to the room she wiped her eyes dry then entered and as she raised her head a tall dark haired man stood to greet her. She smiled, "George!" she exclaimed

"Lily give me a hug." The man said as they both held each other, "Where else am I going to find a brilliant Conn Officer like you ?"

"I'm sure you'll find one. I'll miss you. You have been so kind and generous to me." She said with another tear coming to her eye.

"Ah, nothing that I wouldn't for any of my crew" he said with a little smile.

"No, you've been there when I needed a shoulder to cry, when I needed to tell you my problems"

"And you've also been there to tell me I'm doing the wrong thing"

Lily laughed and gave him a peck on the cheek, "Thanks for everything" she said as she stood on the transporter pad and turned to face him, "See ya round the Galaxy"

She nodded to the Transporter Chief to engage transport

"Bye..." She said as the figure of the female Officer disappeared.

She reappeared on Deep Space 9 where an Officer was there to greet her,

"Welcome aboard Deep Space 9, Lieutenant Barker if you will come with me I will show you to your temporary quarters."

Liz stepped off the pad and followed him to her new quarters.
