Lieutenant Logan McQueen
August 1, 2385
USS Leviathan-B : Brig

Logan headed down the corridors of the USS Leviathan-B heading for the main brig. They were just a couple of hours from Elifia Prime, where they would be dropping off the Lieutenant how had brought Lieutanent Borealiou to Mirisam V. The Leviathan was an impressive vessel, effectively split into two sections.

The Saucer section contained all the vital components and was where all the crew accommodation and the main sickbay were situated. There was also the main Bridge and a fully operational engineering, with a modified class 9 warp core. In an emergency the Saucer section could detach from the Engineering section and act as one large lifeboat.

The Engineering section had most of the working components, such as the main Engineering section, over a dozen cargo bays, the main shuttle bay, holodecks and the engineering replicators. There were also other sections, such as a secondary sickbay and some guest accommodation. The Engineering section was also where the main brig was situated.

Logan stepped inside and the two officers, one a Marine looked across towards the door.

"How are our 'guests' ?" Logan enquired.

"They're behaving themselves." The Security Ensign replied.

There were twenty Jem'Hadar in the Brig, held in pairs. There were another ten in the secondary Brig. The other two were currently isolated in Sickbay, Logan's next stop. All of the Jem'Hadar, bar the two in Sickbay where from the same batch as Goran'Agar, Doctor Kafhre had confirmed. During their time on Mirisam V, after the battle Logan had got to know Goran'Agar a little and had realised that all these Jem'Hadar wanted was to be left alone.

Initially they had wanted to free all Jem'Hadar from the control of the Dominion and their addiction to the 'White'. But that desire had been exploited and now all Goran'Agar wanted to do was collect together all those Jem'Hadar like him.

Logan thanked the officers and headed back down the corridor to the turbolift. He stepped inside and announced. "Main Sickbay."

Sickbay

The turbolift moved off and within thirty seconds, Logan was outside Sickbay. He stepped inside and looked around. At first he thought there was no-one there, but then he noticed a shadow on the wall and walked further in to see Rahel and the Marine Medic Eliza Dyson talking in Rahel's office. Logan stepped inside.

"Good morning ladies." He announced. Rahel's concentration moved away from the Marine and onto Logan. Eliza knew when she wasn't needed and made her excuses.

"Doctor, I'll speak to you later about what we found at the rogue Jem'Hadar base." She said, rising from her chair and heading out of the room.

Logan walked upto Rahel's desk and leaned over, kissing her on the lips before sitting down. "So, how are own two prisoners ?" He asked.

"Nice to see you too." Rahel said, her face stony cold.

"I'm sorry Rahel, but as you can imagine I've been rushed off my feet." Logan stated, trying to make up an excuse for not spending time with her. He loved her, but he also had duties to perform.

Rahel couldn't stop the smile crossing her face and she eventually broke out laughing as Logan squirmed in his seat. "Got Ya." She announced.

"Very funny." Logan said. "So what's the news on our two Jem'Hadar ?"

"They're definitely not from the same batch as Goran'Agar and the rest of the Jem'Hadar we have in the Brig." Rahel started to explain. "All their DNA is a match. The two we have in isolation have identical DNA, but it has some variations to that of Goran'Agar. These variations have the same results, they are not dependent on Ketracel White, but they are different."

"Any idea what the reason could be ?" Logan asked.

"I'm not sure." Rahel admitted. "But they have been co-operative and I can tell you that these two Jem'Hadar we're 'born' in the Alpha quadrant."

"They're Alpha's !" Logan remarked. "Does that mean we could be looking for another batch of Jem'Hadar."

"That's what I thought at first." Rahel said. "But now I'm not so sure. Their DNA is an exact match, down to the sub-molecular level. This vessel has one of the most advanced DNA analysers in the Federation, so I tested their DNA."

"So their DNA matches…" Logan stated. "… each batch of Jem'Hadar are the same."

"You would think that, but infact that's not true." Rahel continued. "There are always minor variations in the cloning process which effect the DNA at the sub-molecular level. Things like the temperature of the cloning chamber and the speed of the cloning process all have an effect. The only way these Jem'Hadar could exist is if they had been cloned in the same tank."

"Twin Jem'Hadar." Logan suggested. "Is that possible ?."

"In theory yes." Rahel said. "There have been instances in cloning experiments where a single cloned cell will spilt completely in two, creating two identical clones, just like identical twins in real life are created. It's a very rare occurrence, especially in cloning and usually only develops when the cloning process is accelerated in some way. There is something else."

"What ?" Logan asked.

"They're telepathically linked to each other." Rahel said. "They're not telepathic and I can't find any markers in their DNA for classic telepathy, but somehow they know what each other is thinking."

"So why are they with Goran'Agar and his little group ?" Logan asked.

"I don't know." Rahel admitted. "Maybe they are with the group because they are not dependent on White."

"Do you think it will be safe to put them back with the others ?" Logan enquired. "Or will they pull them apart ?"

"I'd like to keep them here for now in isolation." Rahel suggested. "I'd like to do some more tests."

"Ok." Logan replied. "By the way, what were you talking about before I came in, something about the rogue Jem'Hadar base and something they found."

"It looks like the rogues were performing some experiments to create a new breed of Jem'Hadar." Rahel said. "Eliza didn't have much chance to study them, she was too busy trying to save them."

"Are any of them still alive ?" Logan asked.

"No…" Rahel said with a sigh. "…they all died of various complications. From what I've read in her reports, she was fighting a losing battle. These poor souls had no chance of surviving. Their bodies are all still onboard the Taurus in stasis, awaiting examination and autopsy."

"There are people for that." Logan stated, realising that Rahel was thinking that she might have to go through another autopsy. He'd seen the reaction she's had after she'd finished the autopsy on the Jem'Hadar Ger'Tax, he didn't want her to feel that sort of pain again. "It's not your job."

Rahel smiled and looked across her desk at Logan, sensing his concern. "I know." She said. "I do love you."

"As do I." Logan replied. "We'll be arriving at Elifia Prime in about an hour, fancy getting something to eat."

They both stood up and headed out of Sickbay and down to the mess hall. For the moment, any thoughts of rogue Jem'Hadar, autopsies and her own situation disappeared from Rahel's mind. All she thought about as they continued to walk closely side-by-side was Logan.
