Lieutenant Logan McQueen
August 3, 2385
Deep Space Nine : Quarks Bar

Logan and Rahel were sat in Quarks having a quiet drink at one of the corner tables. Although the bar was very busy, no one was paying any particular attention to the two Starfleet officers from the USS Leviathan.

"Hi Guys." A female voice said, bringing the two officers back to reality. "Mind if I join you."

Before either of them could say anything, Lana had placed the drink she was carrying on the small table and took the third chair. Both looked a little guilty, but didn't let it show, so far neither of them had told their siblings about their relationship with each other.

"I'd better get going." Rahel suggested, picking up her glass and downing the remains in one go. "I've got to arrange for the transfer of all the medical records off the Taurus. Bye Lana, it's good to see you again."

Logan and Lana both watched Rahel leave the bar.

"Was it something I said." Lana remarked, surprised at the Doctor's reaction to her arrival at the table.

"No." Logan said to his kid sister. "You just arrived unexpectedly and I think she was a little intimidated by you."

"Intimidating…" Lana remarked. "Me…."

"Lana, there's something we need to talk about…." Logan stated. "…..but not here. I'll see you in the security office on the Leviathan in an hour, I've got some work to catch up on there."

An hour later, Lana McQueen was on the Leviathan, heading down the corridor towards the Security office. For the past hour she'd been thinking about her encounter with her brother and Doctor Kahfre. Something was going on, but so far Logan was not in the mood to tell her. She finally reached the door and waited for it to open.

As she stepped inside, Logan was sat behind his desk glancing at a Padd. As Lana moved into the room, she realised that Logan was not actually reading the Padd, he was just staring at it.

"Hi Logan." She announced.

"Hi Sis. Sorry about before." Logan apologised. "But Rahel has a lot on her mind at the moment and one of those things is me."

"You ?" Lana stated. "Logan, what's going on ?"

"Lana…." Logan said. "……..I'm in love with Rahel."

Lana's first reaction was one of shock, which soon turned to a growing smile. Logan put the Padd he'd been starting at on the desk and for the first time, she saw what was on it.

She'd seen all the pictures of Bridie and her mother, although she'd never met either, but she knew just how much Logan had been hurt when he'd found out that he had a daughter and that he would never be able to be part of her life. Lana too felt that loss, after all Bridie was her niece. The picture was about three years old, she would be almost fourteen now.

"How long ?" Lana enquired.

"Since we left for Mirisam V in the Hellcat." Logan replied. "Although there's always been an attraction to Rahel, I just never acted on it. But Rahel is in a lot of pain and confusion and I offered to help. As things have progressed we grew closer and closer and now we're starting to change our relationship."

"Who else know ?" Lana asked.

"No one yet." Logan replied. "And for the moment, we'd like to keep it that way. The love we have for each other is strong, but there are so many things going on at the moment, we're both scared of breaking it. Rahel's going to tell Ashraf and we're both going to have to talk to the Captain, but for the moment, we're keeping a low profile and I'd, we'd appreciate it if you'd do the same."

"Logan…." Lana said softly. "… it's good to see you happy for once. And I like Rahel, she's obviously good for you, I've not seen you so happy in years."

Logan was quiet for a while, not speaking. Lana realised what he was thinking and decided to speak out.

"You're thinking about Diane and Bridie aren't you ?" Lana suggested. "Logan, you've got to let go of the past. Diane is married to someone else and Bridie hardly knows you exist. You have a chance for a new start, a new relationship, don't let the past blow your future."

"Rahel is my future…" Logan said. "… and after you and Bridie, she's the most important person in my life at the moment."

"Third place…" Lana joked. "…I wouldn't let Rahel know that."

"She already does." Logan admitted. "She knows all about Diane and Bridie, that was one of the things we spoke about. What worries me more is whether what I've just discovered will destroy Rahel once and for all. We discovered that a private company owned the lab where she was rescued and we managed to identify some of the participants. We also discovered that the name of the head guy was a fake, so I started to look for anyone with the same names and I came up with this."

Logan picked up a second Padd and handed it to Lana. She activated it and saw the list of names, several of which were all the same. At the top of the list was a Shara Mikori.

"Open the file." Logan suggested.

As Lana opened the file, she gasped. The image that was on the Padd was of Rahel, but it wasn't her. The eyes was blue not green and the hair was brown and not blonde, but the face was Rahel's. The file also stated that Shara Mikori was born in 2350, five years before Rahel.

"What does this all mean ?" Lana asked.

"Take a look at the next file, the one marked Dr. Helorian Drakara." Logan suggested.

Lana did as Logan suggested and the image of a small group of people, five men and three woman appeared. In the centre of the picture was yet another doppelganger of Rahel.

"We think that is Rahel's birth mother." Logan stated. "The original image was very fuzzy and it took us some time to clean it up."

"There's something in the background." Lana announced, zooming the image in on the building behind the group. "It's a shadow at the window."

Logan took the Padd off Lana and examined it.

"There's no we way could ever get a clear image from that." Logan stated.

"I'd like to give it a try." Lana said. "Do you still have the original image on file."

Logan activated the draw in the desk and too out an isolinear chip, handing it to Lana. "Do you think you can do it ?" He asked.

"I don't know, but I have an idea." Lana admitted. "I'd at least like to try. I'll see you later."

With than Lana left the office and headed for the Holographic research lab on deck twelve.
