Lost One

Stefen was sat in his temporary quarters, now wearing his white dress uniform. Jessica had been gone almost twenty minutes, but there was still an hour to kill before he would have to leave for the observation deck and his second wedding.

As he sat looking out of the window to his quarters, his mind drifted back to that fateful day…..

November 23, 2384 : Gorn Homeworld

Lieutenant Moss looked at his wife, Dawn as they were hacking into a Gorn computer. Stefen glanced over at Klang, who was still holding the Gorn Intelligence officer on the ground.

"Stefen I found the file." Dawn yelled.

"Lets go." Stefen said nervously.

The three ran out of the room and head toward their pick up zone.

"Moss to Eagle One, we have the package." Stefen stated.

[Roger that, you have two minutes to get to the pick up .... You have Gorn soldiers after you lose them] Came a reply.

Stefen looked behind them and saw the Gorns coming after them. They picked up the pace, Klang threw phaser to Stefen and Dawn. The three then opened fire on the advancing Gorns.

"Pull back but keep shooting." Stefen yelled.

When they were half way to the pick zone, the soldier stop following them. Stefen turned around and saw why, there were more soldier ahead of them.

"Looks like we will have to fight." Stefen stated.

"No, you won't. Give me the chip, human." Klang said as he walked forward.

"You didn't." Dawn said.

"The Gorn is Empire is better than the Federation." Klang said, " They pay more too."

"We will never give the chip up." Dawn yelled.

Dawn and Stefen went at Klang but he threw them like a piece of paper.

"Humans give up." Klang yelled.

"I am part human and part Vulcan, lets go." Stefen said as he ran at Klang. But before he could reach him, Klang fired his phaser, which was aimed at Dawn. The shot hit her square in the chest and her bodies went limp.

"No!!! " Stefen yelled.

He ran to her as she fell, he caught her in his arms. In a fit of rage, Stefen fired his own phaser at Klang, catching him off guard. The shot hit him on the arm and he grabbed it in pain. As he regained his composure, he fired back but it was too late. The beam passed through the disappearing forms of Stefen and Dawn as they were beamed out of the zone.

They materialised back on the vessel, a 'borrowed' Klingon bird of prey. Stefen sent away the Starfleet personnel who offered to help. Instead he carried her lifeless body down to the medical area, but it was no good. Dawn had suffered fatal injuries.

Present….

Stefen came back to reality, the images of Dawn's dead body haunting him. Jessica had been there that day and without her friendship, he would not have survived. On that day the two of them have made a solemn vow that they would do everything in their power to seek out and kill Klang.

Noticing the time, he took a deep breath and drew upon the Vulcan training, pushing his emotions deep within himself. Standing, he walked to the door and headed for the Observation deck. Klang could wait, Jessica could not.
