M'eko was still halfway in shock over being promoted. Given the fact that Captain Taybar and all of the surviving Taurus crew had all been transferred to the Leviathan-B she had been expecting to either moved sideways or down the chain of command or transferred to another vessel. After being a first officer for such a short period of time and the fact that Commander Rashad was already the first officer, M'eko had never suspected this.

It felt like everything was moving fast all of a sudden. Not that she hadn't held the rank of Lieutenant for a good amount of time. She had almost four years of being a Chief Engineer and 2nd Officer of the Eisenhower before joining the Taurus. Before that there were seven years at a junior grade Lieutenant and before that three years as an Ensign, serving onboard the Youngstown, where she was placed after graduating the Academy and then moving onto the Eisenhower.

Now that she had worked her way to command, she was celebrating with the rest of the crew. After all, they were heading to the Gamma Quadrant to serve on the potential front lines of another great conflict in defence of Federation values and interests.

She glanced down at the extra pip on her uniform again and came back to eye level when some more crewmembers came over and had a conversation. This was going to be one of the last major social events for a while, so she wanted to talk to as may people as possible. Hopefully she would be able to see the whole of the crew before they arrived in the Gamma Quadrant.
