Captain's Log Stardate 2460101: The Leviathan has so far proven to have a fantastic
crew. My officers a good bunch. Ensign Toran is a man that I can really
like. He is strong willed and knowledgeable on everything. He will make
a fine security officer, maybe as Chief of Security, but he will have
to prove to me more that he can handle the responsibilities. His record
has been relatively spotless, and Admiral Sutek has put his seal of approval
on the prior warrant officer. I will need to keep my eye on him more. Ensign Shaka--- what can I say about her. Strong, opinionated,
and reckless. She has a total disregard for everyone let alone superior
officer. She is going to be one nut that is going to be hard to crack.
I will have to work on that. However, as an officer and my specialist,
she is outstanding. I couldn't have asked for a better officer. Her opinion
for the dedicated slipstream station is a fantastic idea. Then I can have
a more control of her, knowing where she is. However her idea on having
that here on the Bridge makes sense. I will have her begin working on
it tomorrow on her next shift. Lieutenant Junior Grade, Grant Harris-- interesting man.
Quiet, but knowledgeable. He may just command material, but he needs to
show me more. StarFleet Intelligence needs to keep him up to date as well
especially with the delicate mission we are to undertake. My Chief Science Officer and ship's counselor, Lieutenant
JG Llarian Torh and Ensign Jo Jorenne hasn't even to checked in yet. I
don't know anything about either of them, but would be nice to see. Ensign Hansen passed his holotest with flying colors.
He has shown a brilliance that I had when I was his grade. I think that
he will do just fine here. However, I am concerned about his intentions
here. The Borg has had an interesting affect on his life considering the
family that was assimilated by them unknown to Hansen till Captain Jean-Luc
Picard was assimilated. After Picard was re integrated into human society,
his in-depth report of the Borg provided Starfleet with information of
ships long since thought destroyed, but actually captured and assimilated
by the Borg. The Raven was one of them along with its family/crew. But
that is something that John will have to deal with and could probably
use the ships counselor. However, until a security or safety arises, Hansen
will and could be a valuable member of my crew. Currently, the Leviathan is preparing to enter the Sol System on its way to back to Earth. Hopefully, a crew will be waiting to come aboard so we can go on, but I haven't heard any word to promote otherwise. End Captain's Log. On the Bridge, Commander Devore was sitting at his chair. He had just
ordered that the Leviathan drop from warp 21 to warp 1 because just before
Ensign Shaka had ended her shift, she had warned him that sustained high
velocities to an untested slipstream drive may cause impairable damage.
So to take the precautions, slower speeds was the order. "Captain, " Ensign Toran said from tactical. It was agreed,
and through a shipwide announcement, regardless of Commander Devore's
rank, he was to be addressed as Captain. After a few hours of looking
of the regulations, it was discovered that the commanding officer can
be referred to as Captain regardless of actual rank for it was understood
that the CO was a Captain. Very few Commanders actually do command a starship,
but someone high in Starfleet wanted Devore for this unprecedented mission.
"There is a hail coming in on sub space." "Put it on screen!" Devore said straightening up. On the screen,
Admiral Ross appeared. "Admiral Ross. To what do we owe this honor?" "Commander Devore? How is the Leviathan handling.?" He asked
with a genuine concern. "Sir, the Leviathan is a fine ship with a fine crew. Ensign Shaka
was a good choice for the slip stream specialist position." "I thought so, but watch her temper. She has a very bad one. I
figured that if any one can possible bridle it it might be you." "Well Sir that is quite a temper." "Mark, I have complete faith in you." "Thank you sir." "Your crew is what I am calling you about. There is a slight delay
on filling the rest of the crew. I don't know what higher ups in command
are doing, but I am pushing for a first officer for you. Do you have anyone
in mind?" "Well sir, honestly Lieutenant Commander Worf seems to stand out!"
Devore said with a smile. "Commander. I don't think that is going to be feasible." "Hey, never hurt to ask." "Understood. There is a star preparing to go super nova in Betais
Theta IX. I want you to take the Leviathan and gather pertinent data of
it. Also see the effects that it will have on the ship." "Aye Sir." "Okay. I will contact you as soon as I have someone. Ross out." "No problem sir. Leviathan out! Mr.Toran end transmission. Devore
plopped down in his chair and sighed. I don't believe this, he thought. "Captain, what is going on?" Toran asked. "I don't know. I would like to get on with the Leviathan's mission
rather than do this mediocre assignments." "I know same here." "Very well. It is not for me to question, but to do. Ensign Goory,
set a course to the Betais Theta star system Warp 6." "Aye sir." Goory said. |
