Captain's Log. Stardate 60112:

The Leviathan has one hell of a crew even Ensign Shaka. A few days ago, we almost met a premature death if Shaka hadn't come to her senses and see that she forgot a small procedure. However that small procedure took the SS drive off line at a time that we really needed. She has now completed the crossover from science control panel to her dedicated work station. Let's hope that that will never happen again.

I am wondering if we will ever see a full crew, but till we do we are just going to have to manage. The schematics that Admiral Ross sent me about the Leviathan, showed that she has an advanced computer system that will conduct the day to day operations itself. There are actually only 4 to 5 positions actually required: The Captain to perform the command controls and functions, a tactical officer to keep the human element in the fighting and conflicts, and the engineer to perform the necessary maintenance on the system. The Slip Stream on the Leviathan is necessary, because an engineer for the most part is not versed in the workings or dynamics of the SS drive it in itself a mystery only made known and just understood with the reappearance of the *Voyager* a few years ago. And of course the medical officer which will maintain the crew. However, an EMH is just as good at performing that note, but most people would like an actual breathing, living creature to operate on them. Also with the return of the *Voyager*, the EMH has been revamped with the medical know-how from over 1000 more species and procedures for treating over 1 million more ailments, and been given unique names and personalities. Actual doctors really are not even necessary.

A first officer has still not been chosen. I am beginning to feel that the Admiral is the biggest procrastinator of us all, but he is my boss, Commander, and I have to deal with it no matter what. I did however send him a sub space message on my recommendation for a first officer. I think that he has given me a great deal of autonomy for my selection thereof.

Fortunately, there is nothing happening now. The ship is travelling at Warp 4, taking our time to get accustomed to the ship and each other. I, myself, have taken this time to do some catching up on the readings and comprehension of the slip stream drive which for me hasn't been a very important issue. But I guess as Captain I should know my ship. It is quite fascinating. In theory, their is fluidic space which was discovered by the *Voyager*. Since everything is made up differently charge ions and we know that the same charge atoms repel each other, the slip stream drive creates a positively or negatively charged sub space field. When the drive is engaged the ship will enter fluidic space and fly through it. The charged ions creates if you will a greased surface allowing the ship to slip into the stream and fly at faster than ordinary speeds, giving the name Slip Stream. In addition, the drive creates a more efficient matter antimatter reaction that propels the ship beyond warp 12 itself. That is giving the ship its experimental and theoretical mission, to test the first ship with the SS drive. I noticed that this ship doesn't have a warp drive rather an auxiliary one; on to be used in case of emergency, but then it was the one used in the Constitution Class ships maximum speed warp 5. Interesting, a sophisticated starship with an archaic engine. I have ordered that that engine be put on line so that ever I have a problem like we had earlier, I will not have to go and sweat it out like I did. I swear that will never happen again.

Any way, I am to do a round of my ship. I still haven't met the entire crew and now we are heading back to sector 001. Where I can see about getting the rest of the crew.
