Getting Aboard

Kirk awoke in space dock's guest quarters and at first thought he was back on Star Base 12. Then came a comm message.

[Warrant Officer First Class Kirk Ambrose. This is Lieutenant Toran, Chief of Security aboard the Leviathan. You have now been given clearance by Lieutenant Harris to board the Leviathan. You are to report to your quarters on deck 11 then report to Lieutenant Harris on the Bridge at 13:00 hrs. Toran out.]

Kirk sprang up and raced to put on his uniform he wanted to get on board as soon as possible. It took him only 15 minutes to get ready and he was off to the transporter room. He walked in and saw a fellow Warrant Officer and Kirk said in a loud voice. "Thank you Lieutenant Harris."

He smiled as he disappeared and then reappeared on the Leviathan. He looked around to see no one in the transporter room. Then the door slid open and a rather older looking Lieutenant walked in a gold uniform.

"Mister Ambrose I presume." The Lieutenant said.

Ambrose looked at the Lieutenant and said."Yes Sir."

"I'll take your bag to your quarters. The first officer wishes to speak with you." That made Ambrose think if he was in trouble because it was only 10:00hrs. He walked to the turbo lift and said."Bridge." The turbo lift stopped and the door slide open to show the Bridge.

Kirk thought. *Not in my wild dreams did I ever think I'd be a Bridge officer.* There were still people at work on the Bridge repairing what seems to be battle damage. Panels were opened, burn marks on the walls from a few fires, and loose wires seemed to litter the Bridge. Kirk stepped out and walked down to the Command Chair where he saw an officer wearing a red, command uniform. "Sir Warrant Officer First Class reporting as ordered."

Harris stood up and looked at the young man before him. He immediately thought that Kirk looked familiar but couldn't place him.

"Mister Ambrose you were told to report aboard this ship a month ago. What the hell kept you from getting your clearance ?" Kirk thought. *Damn it wasn't my fault that Admiral Ross lost my paper work.* Harris handed Kirk a PADD and said, "This is your duty roster. I want your control panel fully functional in 5 hours and after that, you are to help Lieutenant Shaka repair the slip stream drive plasma conduits. I want this ship operational in less then 72 hours."

Kirk took the PADD and went and sat down at the control station for awhile reading his PADD. He then stood up and said to himself. "Must do more then what is asked to make up for a mistake. But that wasn't my fault Lieutenant I guess my first time on a starship will be the most memorable one."

He then went to work on the control panel.
