It was late that evening and the mess hall was fairly empty. A lone figure walked to the replicator and ordered. "Raktajino, hot & sweet," She said into the replicator There was a short pause before the jug appeared in the replicator. Taking a quick sip from the jug, Shaka immediately spat the mouthful back into the jug. As she placed the jug back onto the replicator pad, she saw Lieutenant Barker approach. Not only was the Raktajino stone cold, but instead of being sweet it was bitter, like someone had used salt instead of sugar. Lieutenant Barker came next to Shaka and said "You don't seem to be having much luck with replicators lately." He joked. A half smile crossed Shaka's face "It's good to see you back on your feet again, you had some of us worried. ***Shadow*** has been doing your job, but their not to your standard." Chu continued. "It'll be good to get back to work, the EMH can be a little bit annoying. He to keep me under observations for another day, but I've 'crept' out because I wanted a Raktajino. The EMH wouldn't let me have one in sickbay, said something about the stimulants reacting with the remains of the toxin." Shaka replied. "Actually that replicator has been malfunctioning all day. I ordered a cup of coffee earlier and got cup of Earl Grey instead, although it tasted like pineapple juice !." Chu continued. "Has anyone told Engineering about this ?" Shaka asked. "Yes, although it would appear that most of the
replicators on this deck are also malfunctioning. I've also heard that
we've been experiencing other minor malfunctions, ever since we fought
the Borg. Maybe the Captain was wrong to try and keep the Leviathan
in space. Maybe we should have returned to spacedock to complete repairs,
I think we'd be in much better "Maybe, although we can't go back to spacedock every time we get into a little scrape. We're now on our own and if we can't survive and keep going without the support of Starfleet, then we might as well give up now." Shaka said, pressing the recycle button on the replicator. "Maybe we can get a drink from the officers lounge, that's on deck six. Let's hope that the replicators there are operational, would you care to join me Chu. "Sorry, but my duty shift starts in ten minutes, I'll walk with you though. Chu replied. They both left the mess hall and headed for the turbolift. |
