To Treaty, or not to Treaty | |||

*Klingons, here.* Toran thought as he watched Harris speak with the Klingon General. *They're up to something.* Most officers would dismiss this kind of feeling as silly speculation, but not an El Aurian. El Aurian's have a sixth sense about these things. They can tell when something is not right and something definitely was not right. However, Toran had his orders. He was to work with Crys on an agreement. First though, he had to be sure it was legal. Ten minutes later, Toran had his answer. The Leviathan could not enter into a treaty with the Catatonians on behalf of the Federation, but they could assist the Catatonians in exchange for assistance from the Catatonians. *Quite an easy situation.* Toran thought. Fortunately, at least in Toran's mind, Rashad was unable to assist him. She was with Harris. That left Toran to deal with Crys alone. "Ambassador." Toran said putting on his best diplomatic air."Unfortunately, Federation law prohibits the Leviathan from pursuing a treaty with your race without the approval of the Federation council." "I see." Crys replied somewhat confused. "Then our conversation is over ?" "Not exactly." Toran returned before Crys could leave."We can however, offer minor assistance in exchange for minor assistance from you." "What sort of assistance ?" Crys asked sharply. "Nothing difficult Ambassador." Toran replied."We just need help navigating Barien space. If the Lynx gets into trouble out there, then it won't look good for the Federation. It could jeopardise our mission in the Beta Quadrant." "I see." Crys replied."And what would we receive in return ?" "Medical supplies, perhaps an industrial replicator. It depends on what you need." Toran answered. "I'll see what my government says Commander." Crys said as she walked out the door. "That's all I ask." Toran replied. *But I already know the answer. Now it's time to find out why that Klingon is here.*
