Sorting Out The Truth(Part Three of Three)

Harris slowly rose from the ship's centre seat. He had sent Toran to speak with Crys about a possible treaty and now it was time to meet the Klingon."Mister Barker you have the Bridge."

"Aye sir." Barker replied dutifully.

Rashad was already in the transporter room when Harris arrived. Fortunately she had pulled herself together and now looked presentable. "Chief bring the General over." Harris ordered.

"Aye sir."

On the transporter pad appeared a tall and well built 56 year old Klingon. No one was with the General; he did not believe in taking aides everywhere that he went. "Well I see you're a Commander now and pretty important once more in Starfleet." The General commented.

"General, let me present Lieutenant Rashad." Harris said as he gestured towards Rashad."She is our Intel officer."

"Sad thing about the Romulan civil war, isn't it Lieutenant ?" The General asked.

Harris was visibly confused since last he heard the Romulans were almost ready to join the Federation.

"Oh you must not have heard." Responded the Klingon. "The Romulans are divided. One side says 'no Federation' and the other says 'Yes' to the alliance. And this Admiral Jorel has the backing of the entire Romulan Military. It will be over in about six days. The Romulans do not have the stomach to fight their own. Come Commander we must talk in Private."

Moments later, the three were sitting in Captain Devore's ready room.

"General, tell me why you are here and don't lie. You owe me that." Harris said sharply.

The General slowly walked to the replicator, ordered some sort of unpronounceable Klingon coffee and then sat down on the Ready room couch. "Too soft." The General scowled.

"I don't have all day." Harris replied.

"Listen carefully I am not to speak of this to anyone. I assume that Lieutenant Rashad is an Officer in Section 31, like you Grant. Back in 2360 I, along with 12,050 Klingons and 545 Federation officers set out for the Beta quadrant's heart. Well, in February 2360, we met the Barien Confederacy and tried to solve things secretly but, in the end, we lost all but two of the Klingon warriors and all the Federation soldiers. Then, in late 2360, Section 31 set aside an accord that stated no Federation or Klingon ship will ever enter the Barien space. Now this Leary will start a war that should have started 23 years ago."

Rashad and Harris both seemed to be having a hard time grasping the situation.

"So General what is your job ?" Inquired Rashad.

"To restore honour to those lost and revenge, by order of the Chancellor himself. Only he and the Head of Section 31 know of this treaty." The General replied.
