Lieutenant Sierra Devore
June 9, 2383
SSS Sniper : Crew Quarters

Sierra was so excited to have a young person coming on board the Leviathan. How she wished she had her own son. Ever since the acceptance of Brayden to join the Leviathan, Sierra had been thinking of her own child she gave up for adoption. It had been a wonderful time. Nothing was more fun then hiding the secret of her marriage to Marc Devore. She was so happy, but all was cut short only after three months.

The war at Thaddeus Prime had begun and they were separated. It was during this time that she found out she was pregnant. She told no one. She felt that Marc should be the first one to know. Months started slipping by. Still she heard no word. Then Admiral Beard heard that she and Marc had been married. It was while she was looking for her husband, She was "forced" to join Section 31. She felt that maybe she would have a greater chance of locating him this way.

After realising she was beginning to show, she asked for some time away before starting with Section 31. She travelled far, so she wouldn't be seen by Starfleet or Section 31. But after running into a Starfleet officer and knowing that he saw her situation, he offered his assistance. She gave birth to a son, held him for a moment and then the boy was given up for adoption to a nice Starfleet couple who were looking to adopt. She never saw him again.

A few weeks after giving birth, she returned to Section 31 headquarters. She grieved, but in the quiet of her quarters. Now, she sits here with a handsome boy and about the age of her son. How she misses him. She knows how he feels. Her thoughts are cut, by a voice. It was Brayden.

"Lieutenant ? Are you okay ?" Asked Brayden.

"Yes, I'm sorry. I was lost in my thoughts. What did you say ?" She replied.

"When will we be leaving on the Hellcat to find the Leviathan ?" He asked

"Well, I'm not sure. Soon, I would expect. Our crew if very effective. You will see that." She stated. "Why don't you finish packing, I will find Lieutenant Commander Toran and I will ask him. I will be back in a few minutes."

Sierra smiles at Brayden as she steps out in the hall of the USS Sniper. Sierra didn't have go to far, she ran into Lieutenant Commander Toran. "How long until the Hellcat is fixed ?" She asked.

"About six hours. Captain says to be ready. . .and Lieutenant ? Toran said.

Toran's attitude changed a little. "Make sure, Cadet McCaffee is ready. We want to leave on time."

Sierra could tell, Toran was having a difficult time accepting the fact that a "child" was going to be on board a ship in the Beta Quadrant. He had stated that a child shouldn't be out here and that it wasn't safe. But he had no word in the decision and left it at that. Sierra went back to the McCaffee quarters. After hearing she could enter, she said to Brayden, "We are leaving in less than six hours. You need to be ready by then. Okay ?"

"Not a problem. I pack fast and I am almost done." He stated.

"Great. I will leave you to yourself, so you can be with your thoughts. I will see you in no time." She said as she left.

Sierra was leading Brayden to the Hellcat to load his belongings, when she heard him exclaim.

"Mother !" Brayden said through tears.

She looked on as Admiral McCaffee held her son. She was almost in tears. *How the memories return.* She thought. Memories that still ache her heart. She could barely watch as they exchanged their last conversations for a while. Reluctantly, but out of duty, she approached the Admiral and her son.

"Um.. Admiral. It is time we go," She said.

"Of course. You just take good care of my son, Sierra."

Sierra's heart ached even more and in her heart swore to her statement, "You have my word. I will watch over Brayden as if he was my own."

"Good. After all, I don't know what I would do if anything happened to him."

"Don't worry."

"I have to Lieutenant." McCaffee snapped back. "I am sorry."

Almost in a state of shock, but understanding, she shook her head and said, "None needed."

"Go on before I change my mind." Admiral McCaffee said

"Come on Brayden," Sierra said.

Sierra guided him into the Hellcat He was as lifeless as a rag doll. Brayden turned around she knew he was taking a last glimpse of his mother. She couldn't turn, her feet were like stone. When he walked up to her, she placed her hand on the small of his back and showed him to his temporary quarters.

After hearing they had found the Leviathan, Sierra went to Brayden's temporary quarters. After hearing 'enter' from a faint voice, Sierra entered. She immediately knew he had been crying for some time.

"Hi !" She said quietly.

"Hi." He replied.

"I know this is hard for you. You are young and have never been away from your mother. She is, I'm sure, having just as hard a time." Sierra stated in sympathy.

"You are very intelligent, from what I have been told. You are going to fit well on the Leviathan." She said with a smile.

Brayden smiled. "Thank you, Lieutenant."

"Brayden, do me a favour ?" Sierra asked.

"Sure." He replied in confusion.

"When we are out of uniform and away from the others, please call me Sierra ?" She requested.

"Okay. Lieut. . .I mean, Sierra, I am going to enjoy getting to know you and your husband. I know you will make me feel right at home real quick." He said cheering up.

"Speaking of home, we have found the Leviathan !" Sierra said in excitement. "Let's go take a look, shall we ?"

Brayden followed Sierra out of his temporary quarters and headed for the Bridge of the Hellcat.

On the Bridge, they watched as the Barien ship exploded. They also were amazed at the damage the Leviathan had. In a few moments they would be on board the Leviathan. Sierra smiled at the thought of being home. In no time, the Hellcat was docked back in the Leviathan.

Sierra turned to Brayden, "Cadet McCaffee ?"

"Yes, Counsellor Devore ?" He smiled.

"Would you like to see your new home ?" She asked.

"Please. Would you show me to my quarters ?" He said.

"It would be my pleasure !" She smiled.

They walked off the Hellcat with the Captain and the rest of the Hellcat crew toward the group of officers waiting for them in the hanger.

*Who is he ?* Thought Jon. *What is a child doing out here ?*

Sierra could tell by the sight of the faces before her that having Brayden on board the Leviathan was going to be an adjustment for the rest of the crew.
