Sierra was sitting alone in her room thinking of her day. Everyone was acting so different since Brayden's arrive. *Why is it so difficult for everyone that he is here ?* She wondered. Then she remembered the look on Marc's face earlier. *Why did he look at me so weird ?* So many things were going on in her mind. Her dizziness from earlier had gone away, but she still didn't feel up to par. *My body must still be fighting to get back to a normal routine.* She decided. A few minutes later, Marc walked into the room. He was now off duty. "Hello honey." He said as he gave her a kiss."Sorry I am late." "No problem." She replied, "Honestly, I didn't even realise you were late." "Let me get you some dinner. What would you like ?" She asked "Doesn't matter to me. As long as it fills the empty spot." He said. "Marc, can I ask you something ?" She asked. "Sure, you know you can always ask me anything." He said as his forehead wrinkled in confusion. "Why did you look at me funny, earlier today ? You know on the Bridge?" She asked. *Uh, oh.* He thought. "Why do you think I looked at you funny ?" He said instead. "Because you did." She said. "Sierra, things have been a little different since the arrival of Brayden. I have been worried about you. You seem to be like glue to him. Why ?" He asked. *Well, that isn't the way I wanted to ask, but it will have to do.* He thought. "I don't understand ? His mother asked me to watch out for him. That is what I am doing." She answered. "Sierra, I'm not saying what you are doing it 'bad'. I am just saying that you are spending a lot of time with him." He said. "Marc, I can't help it. Do you realise that he is about the same age as our son ?" She said. All time stopped. What did she just tell him ! *Would he think that I was just losing my brain ?* She thought *I guess now is the best time to tell him.* "Sierra, what are you saying ? We don't have a son ?" He told her. "Marc, sit down. There is something I need to tell you." She said Sierra grab the chair next to him and sat down also. She took a deep breath and explained the whole story, from their separation and how she didn't tell anyone she was pregnant because she wanted him to know first to the time she was 'forced' into Section 31, so Beard could watch over her, but still no one knew she was going to have a baby. She told him that they allowed to go on a brief vacation before starting her job. It was then she gave birth to a son and it was adopted by a nice couple. Marc sat in "his" chair in silence. What had she just told him ? He had a son. Somewhere out there. He looked up at her. She was in tears. He pulled her to his lap and held her close. No wonder she is acting so weird. She has missed being a mother. Now she has the opportunity to act like one. "Sierra, it's okay. One day, we will try and find him. Do know anything that could help us ?" He asked. "Marc, there isn't any information. I don't know who helped me in delivery or who he gave the baby to." She said sadly. "There isn't anyway to find out." "If fate would have us find him, we will." He said with hope. She smiled at him and stayed in his arm for a few minutes before getting up and getting the rest of their dinner. The rest of the night was spent talking about the ship and what was getting fixed. Sierra was glad he knew about his son now. She hated keeping it a secret. |
