Old Memories and New Information

Sierra lay in sickbay as voices echoes through her head, each its own loud sound that pierced her brain. The mental fog that once engulfed her was beginning to clear and her acuity began to sharpen.

*What happened ? Where am I ?* Sierra thought as the pain increased. She slowly tried to move, but the pain became excruciating. *Oh, my head !* Her eyes begin to open, the light adding even more anguish to the suffering counsellor.

Ensign Katts was going over her reports when she heard a soft rustling noise from behind her. She turned in her chair to discover that Counsellor Devore has regain consciousness. Quickly she grabbed her tricorder and ran to her.

"Hello Commander ? Can you hear me ?" Katts said.

Sierra tried to focus on the blurry new medical assistant standing before her. "What happened ?"

"Commander, there was an explosion in sickbay aboard the Leviathan. You are now on board the Hellcat. I need you to relax." Ensign Katts said..

"Where is the Captain ?" Sierra replied. "Where's Marc ?"

At that moment Lieutenant Hansen entered sickbay to check on the patients. He came over to Sierra's biobed.

"Hello Counsellor. The Captain is in his quarters, I will call him, if you will rest. Deal ?" He said.

Sierra nodded in consent.

Lieutenant Hansen turned and touched his combadge."Lieutenant Hansen to Captain Devore."

[Go ahead.] Captain Devore said acknowledging his page.

"Counsellor Devore has regain consciousness and is asking for you." Hansen said.

[On my way ! Devore out !] Devore said with excitement.

Within no time at all, Marc was in sickbay. Now at Sierra's side, he held her and began talking to her."Sierra, can you remember what happened ?"

"Vaguely. I remember asking Doctor Birchfield if he needed any help and the next thing I knew he fell on top of me. . .dead." Sierra stopped speaking for a moment, as if re-living the moment. "Marc, I can see his still, void eyes. The next thing I remember is something hitting my head and then waking up here."

"That's okay, sweetheart. I am so glad that you are okay. You are lucky you only have a minor concussion." He said.

"How is everyone else ? Why are we on the Hellcat ?" She asked

"I will tell you about it later, but right now I need you to rest." He said avoiding the subject. *I can't let her find out about Brayden yet.*

Sierra looks to her left. "Marc ! What happened to Brayden ?" She asked in excitement

"Sierra, relax. Brayden was injured and is in a coma. Only time will tell, but you rest. I will be back soon."

Marc left her side and exited sickbay. *I hope Brayden is okay. I am responsible for him.* Sierra thought as she fell asleep.

When Sierra woke up again, Ensign Katts was nearby at another biobed checking on a patient. Sierra slowly sat up. "Whoa." Sierra said still a little dizzy.

"Commander, it would be better if you stayed lying down." Katts said.

"Ensign, please, I feel better. I just think I sat up too fast, even though I did it slowly." She replied. "When can I go to my quarters ?"

"Not for a little while. Like you were told earlier, you have a mild concussion. You were very lucky. You and your husband could have been really hurt. It is going be some time before we know how your son will be. He took a beating." The Ensign said.

"Excuse me, I don't have a son." Sierra said in surprise.

"Sure, Cadet Brayden." Katts said as she looked at Sierra. Sierra's look told the Ensign that she had no idea what she was talking about. "Counsellor, according to records. . ."

"Can I see your records, please ?" Sierra said in confusion.

"Of course." Ensign Katts walked over to where the reports were and brought them over. "According to the reports you and McCaffee have matching DNA."

Sierra began to lie back on the biobed. *Brayden is my long lost son ? I must see Marc !*

"Please get the Captain ! Don't say anything to anyone !"

"My eyes only, Ma'am." Was Katt's response.
