Ensign Janet Gordan
January 25, 2384
USS Leviathan-A : Mess Hall

It had been a long day and it had finally came to an end her shift had ended and she looked forward to spend her time off in the Mess Hall. Janet liked people and enjoyed being around her fellow crewmates. She walked into the mess hall and saw it was rather busy and some of the senior officers were there such as Lieutenant Shaka, the Slipstream Drive expert, however she looked rather busy reading a set of PADDs on her table. Then Janet spotted Ensign Grafton and Lieutenant MacLeod sitting together at a table. Mac was eating something and reading a PADD. While Ensign Grafton was drinking his coffee and looking at a picture. Ensign Gordan got a cup of tea from the replicator and sat down next to Ensign Grafton and gave her friendly smile to MacLeod who had become used to that smile by now.

"So Lieutenant, how well did the drill go this afternoon ? I would have liked to have been there but, I had to help out our new Chief Engineer a little."

Mac placed the PADD in front of her and said. "It was the best drill so far. Don't apologise Ensign it's a sign of weakness."

Grafton drank from his cup and then gave a chuckle.

"So Lieutenant is that your own idea or was that imprinted into your DNA. No offence sir."

"None taken."

Gordan gave a smile and couldn't believe what she had heard. The expression on her face gave herself away.

"What's so funny Ensign ?" Mac asked in his gruff voice that grabbed everyone's attention in the mess hall.

"I think what she's expressing sir. Is that this world is a strange place." Grafton said.

"You see some people think that I harbour bitterness towards those I fought." Mac said. "No, that's not my way. I only harbour bitterness towards their leaders, and their narrow minded ways. The both of you have to learn not to be angry or hateful towards your enemies. For if you do, you're no better them, plain and simple. Nobody has the right to be racist."

Mac continued, "An old Christian saying says "Pray for enemies, don't pray on your enemy's imperfection."

With that Gordan as the rest of the crew in the mess hall thought about his words.
