A Dream Come True

Chris was waiting very calmly outside of the Captain's ready room. He had been called to the Bridge by Captain Devore. Chris knew he wasn't in trouble because he had not done nothing wrong, so he felt good knowing them.

"Enter Specialist."

Chris turned to see Devore standing at his door. Chris tucked his tunic and stepped quickly into the ready room.

"Sir, you sent for me ?" Barnes asked and gave a nice friendly respectful smile.

Devore handed a PADD to Barnes and spoke to him in a nice commanding voice, Devore felt this was a time to make Chris feel more comfortable onboard his ship and not so defensive.

"Well it appears your tour of duty as an Enlisted crewman in security is over. That's your honourable discharge. And this...," Grabbing another PADD on his desk. "You're now a Corporal in the Federation Marine Corps. Congratulations." Captain Devore said as he grabbed Chris' hand and shook it it with a friendly smile.

"It took me some doing, but I was able to get you in the Marine Corps. They need your skills more then the fleet does."

Barnes smiled and couldn't believe it. He wanted this his whole life, now it was real and hard for him to believe.

"Sir thank you. I'll make you proud sir. I won't let you down."
