The Wait

The Leviathan was moving now at Warp six towards Sector Zebra with the numerous Starfleet, Klingon, and Jeorri vessels behind. Captain Devore wanted to take the ship through a small shakedown cruise before putting her to her limits, so while the ship was relatively safe, he ordered the crew to perform constant system checks. Ensign Grafton sat at his post and started running the battles of his past over and over in his head. He was picking out the mistakes of those battles. He want remember the mistakes he had made, so he'd know what he did wrong, how to avoid them and how to advise the Captain politely.

"Mr. Grafton. What would you say to a battle drill ?" Captain Devore said standing up and turning to his right.

*Well, he took that thought out of my mind.* Grafton thought to himself before responding. "I think it would be an excellent idea, sir."

"Very well open a ship wide channel."

After a few presses of the button, "Open sir."

"Attention crew this is the Captain. I feel that we need some drilling before we enter into this new campaign. So to pass the long wait I am ordering a shipwide battle drills. That is all."

Grafton started the sequence and the drill began. It lasted over an hour. As the last reports came in, Grafton went over it quickly so that he could make a report to the Captain when requested. However, deciding to show some initiative, he immediately went to the Captain and handed him the PADD.

Captain Devore read over it and was seemingly pleased with the crews' performance. He went into his ready room after telling MacLeod he had the Bridge. Jake took the opportunity to go over to Ops and read a few computer screens before returning to his station.
