Drill

Chris put his new uniform on, wanting to see what the squad had to say and if they needed any smoothing out. Most of them had just left basic training on Mars, so Chris knew they still feared the NCO a little still. Barnes walked into the squads' quarters at 04:30 and ordered the lights on. Two of the four squad members jumped from their beds. One was Private Robertson, he slept in his uniform and Chris liked that, he then remembered why he was there.

"All right! Listen up! You've got fifteen minutes to meet me in the Holodeck and square away your barracks. Is that understood ?" He ordered.

"Yes Sir." The squad yield in perfect cadence.

After working in the holodeck for four hours Barnes called it a day for drilling. He went to the mess hall and ordered a cup of coffee and some scrambled eggs and took a seat in the corner. Chief Shale came in and ordered the same and took a seat in front of the Corporal with a smile.

"Morning Corporal. How are you this morning ?" The chief asked.

"Sorry Chief. I'm here to eat not get friendly." Barnes replied coldly.

"Fine then if you would excuse me then." Chief Shale said as he stood up and walked over to a table where Ensign Grafton was.

"Hey Chief don't take it personal, he's a killer. It doesn't pay to be friendly and a killer." Jake said to the Chief.
