First Engagement

The Hellcat and the Ronin were deeply involved in fending off the Barien fighter squadrons that appeared to be following Starfleet tactics. Ensign Gordon was given command of the Hellcat along with a small crew of five, half what the craft was supposed to have, however she was very uneasy now as more and more weapons blast were hitting their mark on the Hellcat.

"See if we can open a channel to the Ronin, we aren't getting anything from them lately, Captain. They are in to tight." Chief Shale said as he turned the Hellcat out of the path of an incoming enemy fighter.

"Sir, we can't seem to get anyone on the comm link they're jamming our comm systems. "The Ensign at Tactical said.

*This situation is getting worse by the moment .* Ensign Gordon told herself.

Then another blast hit the Hellcat causing the plasma conduit to exploded by the Tactical station.

*Oh my god.* She said to herself.

Then another blast shook the Hellcat again. Causing some bulk heads to collapse in Engineering. Shale turned to see Gordon frozen, he tried his best to bring her back to reality.

"Sir, re-route power from the damaged system to Helm."

Janet pushed a few buttons quickly regaining her senses. "Chief ! They're using Starfleet tactics, you need to fight them using your own whiles."

"Aye Aye ma'am."

Shale brought the Hellcat close to Barien warship and three fighters as they were closing in on the Hellcat. Finally he then came at them in a nose-dive looking like a kamikaze dive. The fighters trailing the Hellcat were being hit by friendly weapons fire as was the Hellcat. Shale pulled up just as an enemy fighter appeared unable to pull up and slammed into its own warship, causing a terrific fireball explosion. The warship sustained heavy damage.

"Damage report." Gordon yelled.

"Shields at 82%, aft phaser bank is off-line we have fifteen torpedoes left."

"Markos. We need to re-establish contact with the Ronin."

"I know if we can break free from some of these fighters we may be able to do it."

"Understood. Chief take care of these fighters."

Gordon saw a fighter coming from behind as an explosion rocked the Hellcat hard, causing fires and explosions. The Hellcat pulled up and did a complete loop, putting herself into a perfect firing position. Markos fired at the enemy fighter using the Hellcat's pulse phasers.

*I wish this was over with.*

Then a torpedo hit the Hellcat causing both the people on the Bridge to fly out of their seats. A few control panels exploded. Shale was the first to say something. "Damn it. I took piece of conduit in my left shoulder."

Gordon got up and had a few scrapes on her head and she was a little dazed then another blast brought her back to reality.

"Shields at 31%, weapons are online, impulse drive is offline . Life support is holding and we have what looks like three fighters coming in for the kill." She said taking her post as did the Chief.

"Well, I ain't going with out a fight." Shale managed to get the thrusters working and was able to fight two of them off. While the third was hit by the Ronin.

[Engineering here. We will have the shields back up to full strength soon along with the aft phaser bank.]
