"Sir, the subspace comchannel is down," Lieutenant MacLeod yelled calmly over a minor explosion. Grafton was at his station trying his damnedest to see any sort of window of opportunity and finally he saw one worth mentioning. "Sir I've found a way to take on the enemy fighter squadrons." Devore turned around from the helm station and gave a look. "Well the average number of the fighter squads is between five and eight vessels in a standard V-class tactic..." "Go on Ensign. We don't have all day." "We counter-tactic them." "What ? How ?" "We launch a torpedo at the lead craft then use phasers on the next three. As they break off, we target the remaining fighters." Devore thought about it for a few seconds and then walked to his chair and took a seat. MacLeod added more news to the situation. "Two fighter squadrons moving to attack formation. It's another V class tactic." "Cadet plot an intercept course. Grafton target both squadrons." Devore said tapping a few buttons on his arm rest. The Leviathan moved in at 1/4 impulse. At about 3,000 metres Captain Devore finally gave the order to fire. The enhanced phasers tore through the six enemy fighters. As planned, the remaining fighters tried to break off and the targeting sensors easily picked the Barien fighters and destroyed it. "Sir. The ten fighters are gone, however there are approximately 235 fighters in this sector alone." Grafton informed the Captain. "Mac ? How long before the Knight and Romulan reserves arrive ?" Devore asked. The Knight was only one ship and the Romulans only sent eight ships, but he believed the more the merrier. "If they are still within the plan, thirty-four minutes, sir." MacLeod responded. |
