Working A Plan

Jake was getting frustrated at not being able to pick anything up on scanners with a tachyon pulse. He had a feeling that these people had a type of cloaking device that was flawless. Grafton looked around the Bridge and saw Captain Devore talking with Commander Helm of the Ronin.

"Captain may I speak with you ?" Grafton asked.

Devore walked over and gave a puzzled and hopeful face.

"Lieutenant, do you have something ?"

"Sorry sir, I don't. It's safe to assume that they have a cloaking device that is flawless. I have come up with an idea."

Devore raised his eyebrow in interest.

"Well damn it explain."

"Okay we can reroute the lateral sensor array to the deflector relay and send out pulse that will pick up everything with in a two light year range that's metallic."

"A sonar of type." Chief Shale said from the helm.

"Will it work ?" Devore asked.

"It worked on Earth until space travel. After all every ship is metallic," Shale said standing up.

"How long ?" Devore asked.

"It'll take fifteen minutes to realign sensors and modify deflector couplings. Take forty minutes." Grafton said in a very sure voice.

"Sir, we can't waste time doing this Captain." Lieutenant Gordon said from Ops.

"Okay take the Chief and get to deflector controls, I give you your forty minutes, and hope for our sake your plan works." Devore said as the two left for the turbolift.

In the turbolift Shale chuckled and that caught Grafton's attention.

"What ?"

"In all my years I've never seen a Tactical officer with such knowledge of Engineering."

"Well I spent thirteen months in Engineering school after the war. I maybe a fighter, but I'm not willing to be ignorant."
