Thinking

Lieutenant Commander Tyra walked into the forward lounge just as the Captain and Ensign Katts separated from their embrace. She raised an eyebrow at them, but said nothing as she stepped further into the room. She could sense a slight tension in the room as Devore's wife spoke with an air of warning. Tyra shook her head and stood in position, waiting for the memorial service.

She didn't know the person who was killed, having spent most of her time in Engineering or in Teryek's room. That thought brought a twinge of grief upon her. She missed Teryek greatly and feared that she would never find another like him. She closed her eyes as she felt the sting of tears. She pushed them back and stood stoically as possible. She had to get her mind off Teryek before she broke down. She hadn't had time to mourn him properly what with her sudden hunger attacks and the battle with the Zeratul. Now that she was standing here grieving for another lost crewmember, those thoughts came back. She pushed them away again, telling herself that she would grieve for him later. Alone.

Tyra's thought drifted to her new promotion and her transfer to the Bridge. It was completely unexpected and had taken her off guard. She didn't want to fail the Captain again, but she didn't know how she was going to control these hunger attacks without a mate. She shook her head and decided that the replication could provide her with what she needed. She sighed softly and bowed her head as more thoughts came to her mind. She probably wouldn't have time to think about hunger now that she was going to be on the Bridge and taking care of the Slipstream drive. That would be both a blessing and a curse. She would handle it, though. She had to if she was going to get back into the Captain's good graces.

She heard the officers gathering around for the ceremony and she raised her head, which was watery with unshed tears. She stared straight ahead as the Captain begin his speech.
