The Few, the Proud... |

Second Lieutenant Jack Truman sat in Engineering, amongst the yellow and black uniformed Starfleet engineers. Wearing his BDU's, Jack Truman stuck out like a sore thumb. He ran his fingers through his hair before placing his cap back on his head. He noticed that he attracted some attention from every engineer that passed by him. He quickly shrugged it off. He knew his assignment here was more important then asking Commander Taline to tell his engineering teams to knock it off. The task at hand was the deflector array. Because of his engineering expertise, Major Phanan gave him leave to help out in Engineering. As he navigated engineering, it was almost as if it was second nature to him. He, along with the late Robbie Gleason were crewmembers onboard the Leviathan before becoming Marines. The engineers in here now, however, were new, many of them coming with the ship from DS9. Only a few of the original engineers from the original Leviathan were onboard. Unfortunately, they were not in Engineering right now. Jack smiled, and nodded to a female ensign who passed him by. She smiled as well and couldn't help but look over her shoulder as she continued on her way. Jack, being fuelled by that smile, grinned and adjusted his BDU shirt. He then stopped. Engineering first. Attractive female Ensign second. If it was a problem with the deflector shield, it would definitely have to be fixed. Jack thought, however, the problem was somewhere else. Earlier in the morning, and engineering team swept over the individual components of the deflector dish and the deflector grid, and everything was working at peak efficiency. Jack was now thinking that it was either a power relay or a computer relay. It was simple, at least, to him. Either the dish wasn't getting power, or there was a relay down that didn't let the dish receive orders. He was thinking the latter of the two. Excusing himself, he made his way down to the deflector relay systems in the front of the ship. Major Phanan stepped off of the turbolift and made his way down the corridor. He passed two lieutenants that were discussing something about the sensor systems. They stopped what they were doing and silently watched as Jon passed by. He sighed as he made his way passed the two who then returned to their discussion. He made his way up to the Executive Officer's quarters and knocked on the door. He made sure not to ring the chime. The door opened with Commander Rashad filling the gap where the door was. "Yes Major." Jon made his way past her in to her quarters as she turned and followed. "Might I ask exactly what you're doing ?" "Why don't you tell me ?" Jon retorted. "You've got your little prodigy prancing around my decks placing sensor and communications bugs and the liking. I thought we came to an understanding." Rashad gave him a confused look. "I don't know what you're talking about." "Like hell you don't." Jon crossed his arms across his chest. "Ensign Morriden is causing problems." "Hmm," Rashad replied. She remained silent for a moment. "What type of equipment have you found ?" "Jack found around 20 different bugging equipment and a holocam. I have no idea as to how many this weasel has dispersed on my decks." "Indeed. Believe me Major, this is not of my doing. I have not been in contact with Ensign Morriden." Rashad began to pace across the room. "I will see what I can do. In the mean time, I request that you don't discuss any type of vital information unless you are definitely in a clean area." "Fine," Jon conceded. "I'm not exactly happy about this. I expect you to get me some answers." Jon made his way out of Rashad's quarters. This is not what he needed. Just as soon as he was finished with Rashad T'Kul and her sensor net in his area, he had to now deal with this Ensign Morriden. Shaking his head, he made his way down the corridor and back to the stares and gawking of Starfleet personnel. As the door opened to the deflector control array, Jack Truman noticed personnel hovering all over the place. They were moving in between different panels of controls, all looking for the one solution that would solve the problem of why the deflector dish was not working. Jack made his way past the Starfleet crewman and towards the one thing he was looking for: the computer relay systems. Twisting his way to a currently unoccupied section of the deflector systems room, he opened up a lower panel system and began working. Reaching into his belt, he pulled out a few tools, and began working. After a few moments, the lights sparked and the deflector systems began to hum. "Booyah !" Jack yelled out. He grinned and placed a few tools back in to his belt. An ensign ran over to see what the yelling was about. "Finally! Good work Lieutenant," the ensign said. The supervising officer, a Lieutenant, came over. "What's going on here ?" "I've fixed the computer relay systems sir." The Ensign replied. He smiled. "You ? Ha ! I fixed the relay." Jack looked at the ensign with cold eyes as the Ensign held a confident smile on his face. "Of course you did Lieutenant. Why don't you go back to where you belong and kill some holodeck people or something." The Lieutenant moved past Truman to take a look at what the Ensign "fixed." "Hmph." Jack replied. He was about to punch the Ensign right in the face when he held himself back. Shaking his head, he stormed out of the deflector systems room, making sure that his boots clanked hard off of the metal floor planking until he reached the carpeted corridor. He'd have to go and gripe to the Major. |
