The group of travelers set off in the direction of the smoke Taline had spotted a few moments ago. Morriden and Taline set off fast, eager to get there followed by Brayden and Junora. Dakul walked next although trying to stay just out of earshot of the two young lovers. Major Phanan and the Captain walked along behind him laughing and joking and Rashad took up the rear close behind them. It wasn't long before they reached a small clearing that the fire was coming from. "What's that smell ?" asked Dakul, his keen sense of smell picking up a distasteful smell. "I don't smell a thing" said Major Phanan "But I hear talking" said Rashad, her hearing being more acute than any of the others in the part. As they spoke, an arrow landed at Taline's foot and he jumped backward. The group drew their weapons as they were charged by a hoard of small green things out of the trees. Taline, Phanan and Morriden charged to meet the assault weapons held high for the strike. Brayden drew his daggers while Junora struggled with the bow for a moment as she worked out how to use it. Devore and Rashad drew close with their weapons taking a defensive position. Dakul lifted his huge hammer and strode toward the goblins. He took a large swing and knocked the heads off a row of the goblins. He looked over and the goblins were fleeing as the rest of the party chased the remnants away. Dakul looked at the small bodies littering the floor and laughed. "Mark, this is something that Cardassians tell their children about! This was no challenge, what are you trying to pull here?" "This has to have some kind of significance Eran" answered the Captain "or the computer wouldn't have selected it." As Devore spoke those words, a horde of goblins rushed out, eight times as many as before, the group were overwhelmed. They surrounded Junora and Brayden and the Captain ran to her aid. Taline, Phanan and Morriden had split up and were slowly ploughing their way through the waist high enemies. Rashad, her whip not being very effective had to resort to her daggers and was falling under attack and had gotten separate from everyone but Dakul. Dakul sighed, lifted his hammer and strode toward her knocking off heads as he went. "I thought you may need a hand Rashad" he said as he approached. "Don't think I owe you anything for this Cardassian!" Dakul wasn't fast enough however. The hammer he was given wasn't a particularly fast weapon and the nimble goblins managed to overwhelm him and pull him to the ground. As he fell he saw goblins jumping all over Rashad and pulling her to the ground too. He turned his head to be met by a large wooden club. He saw no more. When he awoke, he could here chattering and laughing all around him. He rolled over and saw Rashad lying by his side bound up in ropes. He checked himself and found that he too was tied. At that moment, he felt something being put to his head. He instantly recognized it as a phaser! *A Phaser ? This can't be right ! Something must have gone wrong with the Captains algorithm!* "Computer, freeze program" he said, but nothing happened. "Well a Cardassian and a Bajoran. Odd companions wouldn't you say?" Dakul looked up and saw a Romulan dressed in medieval clothing, but holding a Romulan disruptor all the same. "What are you doing here Cardassian? Tell me now or things won't be pleasant for you or your friend!" Dakul new all about Romulan interrogations, he was also a Cardassian and new a fair bit himself. He knew what to expect and how to hold out, and wasn't going to speak to the Romulan any time soon. "Computer, End program!" "Computer, Arch!" Nothing happened... |
