Rip van Winkle(Part One of Two)

Previously....

ASHER blinked, craning his neck around to lock his gaze on the Akira class vessel heading into the anomaly he was sure he just shot out of. He tapped a few buttons on the console and spoke.

"USS Leviathan ?" His calm almost Vulcan voice called. "This is the Federation Scoutship Interphase, Ensign ASHER at the helm. It looks like we've both got somewhat of a problem."

Now..

No answer from the Leviathan. A thought suddenly occurred to him, could he have passed through into the mirror universe. Without reaching out his holographic arms, he tried to check the vessel's scanners, but almost everything was fried. No sensors and no propulsion he suddenly realised as the small vessel jerked backwards. As he tried to restart the engines, he realised the problem, the warp core had been damaged. The only reason the computer was still active was the fact it was on battery power, but even that was being drained by ASHER's presence.

<Warning. Severe power drain detected.> His comm badge announced through the computer systems. <Power reserves at five percent. Suggest activating hibernation mode. Total power failure in five minutes.>

ASHER knew what he had to do, but he also knew what hibernating would mean. His programming could remain in hibernation for up to ten years, but only the very basic functions would be left online. He'd be unable to reactivate himself, someone else would need to activate him. If this truly was the mirror universe, then he had no way of knowing who would recover him and what they would do. His only hope was the fact that the Leviathan was here and that probably meant the Terran Alliance.

He checked the ship one last time. The shields were still operational, but there was little power left, there was also a quantum torpedo in the rear launch tube. *What if.?* He thought as an idea can into his 'mind'.

Quickly he programmed the ships computer and then entered hibernation mode.

Five seconds later, the rear torpedo tube opened and the torpedo that was inside 'slide' out.

Ten seconds later, it exploded causing an energy wave to spread out in all directions. The wave hit the rear shields of the scout, draining all the remaining energy. But it worked, the wave pushed the vessel away from the wormhole and towards the Leviathan.

But ASHER would never know that.
