One Threat Down

Stefen cut the link between Klang and the Leviathan. He quickly checked the console, hoping that the communications trace would have got back to Klang, giving him the location of his nemesis and Jessica. No luck. The trace showed that the signal had originated within the Gamma quadrant, but the exact location for the signal was lost.

Stefen turned around and looked at the body on the floor. He recognised the face of his former colleague. He didn't full understand how he could be lying on the floor, shot by Stefen, when he had been dead for four years.

*It has to be someone else, but how had they got onboard and how had they become involved with Omega.* Stefen thought. *Did they have anything to do with Jessica's kidnapping ?*

The last question he asked himself, he was almost certain he knew the answer to, they had to have been involved in the kidnapping. Stefen dropped down to the floor and started to search the body looking for any clues that might link his 'friend' with Klang. As he felt down the torso, be touched something hidden under the uniform. The body simmered for a moment then changed.

Just at that moment Lieutenant McQueen arrived.

"What happened here ?" Logan asked. "We picked up phaser fire on the internal sensors…."

Logan stopped, looking down at the body on the floor of the female in a Marine green uniform. He raised his phaser and pointed it at Stefen.

"Stefen…." He said. "I want you to get up very slowly."

Stefen remained over the body of Jessica.

"No…" He protested." ….You don't understand….This… This isn't Jessica."

"Stefen, please move away from the body." Logan said once more, pointing his phaser at the Intelligence officer. Stefen did not move, instead trying to find once more whatever he'd actiavted.

Logan fired his phaser at Stefen once who fell to the ground next to the body of the Marine. Logan tapped his comm badge. "Security to Bridge, I need Commander Rashad and a medical team to the Intelligence office right now."

[Understood.] The voice of Captain Taybar replied. [Any trouble.]

"Private Moss-West is dead." Logan stated. "And it looks like Lieutenant West is the murderer.

Five minutes later, Lieutenant Rahel Kahfre and Commander Rashad were both with Lieutenant McQueen, along with a medical team. Rahel checked over the two stunned guards, who had obviously been knocked out, allowing Jessica to walk into the room unchallenged. She then moved onto Stefen and Jessica.

"Lieutenant West will be fine in about an hour." Rahel reported. "But Private Moss-West is dead. Phaser blast at point blank range, she never stood a chance."

"Have the Security guards taken to sickbay and the body to the morgue." Logan ordered. "I'll deal with Stefen."

Commander Rashad now came forward. "Lieutenant, I'd like to be present at the interrogation. He is a member of my department and I don't believe he did this without probably cause."

Reluctantly, Logan agreed. Ever since he had first met the Commander, there was something about her that Logan didn't trust. Maybe it was because she was half Romulan, maybe just that she was a new face, but Logan's gut told him that there was far more to Rashad than met the eye.

"Take him to the brig." Logan ordered. "I'll escort the others to Sickbay and see if they can give me any information on who attacked them.

Four stretchers moved the bodies away from the Intelligence room, three towards sickbay and the fourth towards the Brig and the interrogation room. Lieutenant Kahfre and McQueen followed towards sickbay, whilst the security team followed the prisoner. Only Commander Rashad remained in the room.

"Computer, Seal this room." T'Kul announced. "Authorisation T'Kul Beta 4-6-2."

<Room sealed.> The computer responded.

Rashad started to examine all the console logs, moving onto the sensor and communications logs. Finally she activated the hidden security cameras that she had personally placed in the room. As she watched the video feedback, she saw the Lieutenant turn and fire his phaser, but the camera was not able to show who he fired at. Rashad decided to check the other cameras and as she watched, she was something she hadn't expected. She stopped the playback.

"Computer, magnify and identify the crew member on the screen." She requested.

<The image does not conform to any of the known crew onboard the USS Leviathan-B.> The computer replied.

"Widen search to all active Starfleet officers." Rashad ordered.

<No match.> The computer replied.

"Computer, access Intelligence database Neo 31." Rashad announced.

<Match found.> The computer replied. < Lieutenant Junior Grade T'val. Deceased.>

*Interesting.* Rashad thought. *According to Starfleet this man is dead.*

"Computer show me T'Val's Starfleet record." Rashad requested.

<Access denied.> The computer responded.

"Override, Authorisation T'Kul Beta 4-6-2." Rashad stated.

<Access denied.> The computer responded again.

*What !* Rashad said to herself. The files had been locked down to prevent her accessing them even through her Section 31 . She continued to attempt to access the files, but to no avail. Then her comm badge alerted her and she tapped it.

[Commander Rashad.] The voice announced. [Lieutenant Moss is starting to come around.]

"I'll be right there." Rashad stated.

She picked up a Padd and transferred the image on the screen to the Padd, before switching off the consoles and rising from her seat.

"Computer open the doors. Authorisation T'Kul Beta 4-6-2." Rashad announced. "Reseal after I leave, no-one but my to unseal these doors."

<Confirmed.> The computer replied.

The doors opened and Rashad stepped outside, heading for the Brig to interrogate Stefen Moss.
