Briefing… Interrupted

[Captain Taybar.] A voice suddenly announced over the ship intercom. [Long range sensors have picked up a vessel heading our way.]

The Captain tapped her comm badge and replied.

"Just one ?" She asked. "Can you make out any identification ?"

[As far as we can detect there's just one, Captain.] The voice replied. [We've managed to tap into the sensor grid in this system, but we're still getting interference. We can't get an accurate reading, but whatever it is it's moving fast.]

"How long until they will be in sensor range of us ?" The Captain enquired.

[Best estimate is fifteen minutes.] The voice replied. [It all depends whether on whether they can tap into the grid. If they can, then we're looking at maybe minutes.>

"Make preparations to break orbit. Make sure the transporters are ready to leave in ten minutes." The Captain ordered. "Battle stations."

The briefing was obviously over and the senior staff started to rise from their seats, but the Captain motioned for them to remain for the moment. Re-taking their seats, they all looked towards the Captain. She looked around the table before speaking again.

"If this is the rogue Jem'Hadar, then it's time we showed them what this vessel is capable of." Aki stated firmly. "But we can't risk our 'visitors' landing in the hands of them. It's time we tested this vessel to it's best. Computer open channel, shipwide."

<Channel open, shipwide.> The computer announced.

"Attention all crew." Aki announced loudly. "We have a vessel on approach which could be the rogue Jem'Hadar. As of now I am activating battle-stations. All non-essential personnel will evacuate to the saucer section, separation will be in ten minutes. Computer, close channel. Yellow Alert, prepare for separation, countdown ten minutes from now. Mark."

<Channel closed. Saucer separation in ten minutes.> The computer announced.

The Captain looked around the room once more.

"Right everyone, this is it. Get to your stations and prepare for separation." She announced.

Everyone stood up and headed for the door and their stations.

"M'eko, T'Kul stay for a moment." Aki requested.

Once everyone was gone, Aki looked at her two first officers.

"Lieutenant Commander, I need you to take command of the saucer section. Your orders are to proceed to Bopak III and await our arrival. You'll escort the two transporters there at maximum warp. We'll remain here and cover your escape. If you do not hear from us within two days of arriving at Bopak III, you are to take the saucer back to the wormhole and report the loss of the Engineering section."

The Caitian looked at her Captain. Normally it was the first officer's duty to be by the Captain's side during battle-stations, with the second officer taking command of the saucer section. The complex arrangement between J'ross and T'Kul over their roles as first officer and their respective duties often confused both officers.

"Commander T'Kul, you'll take command of the Hellcat and launch as soon as the saucer leaves the system. Your orders are to cloak and remain hidden until ordered to or the Engineering section is destroyed. If we are destroyed, you are to leave for the Alpha quadrant at maximum warp." The Captain ordered.

"Understood Captain." T'Kul announced. "I'll start picking a crew immediately, the Klingon Rustazh has an excellent academy record at Tactical, especially with small vessels. Lieutenant Omega should be my Operations officer, he did a good job of helping with the Devastator. All we need is a helm officer and an engineer."

"Take Dare as your helm officer. "J'ross announced. "I can handle the helm of the saucer section, which would leave Lieutenant Barker to man the helm of the Engineering section."

"You should take Lieutenant Hart as your Engineer." Aki suggested. "I may need Luwall here. She's a good engineer and she knows the Hellcat well. Dismissed."

"Rustazh, Omega, Dare, Barker and Hart report to the main shuttlebay immediately." T'Kul ordered over the comm, heading out of the door.

"I'd better get prepared as well. "J'ross announced, following T'Kul.

The Captain sat alone in her chair, looking out of the window for a while, watching the planet below pass by. She took a deep breath and rose from her chair. Heading out of the door, she passed the main turbolift and instead took an auxiliary turbolift. As she stepped inside the small cab, she announced. "Battle Bridge."
