A New Team (Part Two of Two)

Previously….

"Captain, may I speak with you in your ready room." Moss requested.

"Of course Mister Moss." Aki replied, glad to take a break from the Padd.

The two walked inside the ready room where Stefen took a seat. He placed the Padd he had been carrying on his lap.

"Captain since we are going to be heading to Starbase 901 I would like to request that we create a specialist team that would operate something like a Hazard Team.  But this one would fall under the command of Intelligence, not Operations and Engineering." Moss said.

The Captain just looked at him, intrigued by the Lieutenant's request.

"The team member would be Lieutenant Dare, Lieutenant Riggin, Lieutenant Loh, Ensign McQueen, Ensign Ellison, Ensign Coleman, Lieutenant Lloyd, and Private Dyson. This team will be led by me, with overall command and order coming from Commander t'Kul. They will all keep their primary department assignments, but I'd like to have at least one shift per week assigned to training." Moss finished as he handed the PADD to the Captain.

Now….

Captain Taybar took the Padd and reviewed the information thoroughly.

“There is a precedence for creating this type of specialist team.” Stefen added. “When Voyager was ‘lost' in the Delta quadrant, Captain Janeway created such a team to undertake dangerous away missions, it was known as Elite force.”

“This is a very impressive proposal.” Aki commented. “But just what sort of missions do you envisage this team of yours being involved with ?”

“The members of the team have been picked because of their abilities in their own area.” Stefen replied. “As for the types of missions, they would vary widely, mainly intelligence, but I could see the team being used for other away missions, where stealth is key. One of the duties I would like them to perform would be in ensuring that Jessica is safe. T'Val maybe an ideal body guard, he does have his limitations.”

“You believe that Omega will make another attempt to get to you and Jessica ?” Aki asked.

“Knowing K'Lang…” Stefen said. “…I'd not take any bets. Sooner or later Omega will strike at my family.”

“I'll discuss this with Commander t'Kul and our new first officer and let you know. You'll also need to speak with our new Command Marine about bringing Private Dyson into the team, but I will try and put a ‘good word' in” Aki finally said. “By the way, do you have a name for this team ?”

“Not at the moment Captain.” Stefen admitted.

Aki watched the Intel officer, getting the feeling that there was a lot going on under the surface. She also suspected that there was something else he wanted to ask.

“Was there anything else ?” Aki enquired.

“Yes.” Stefen admitted. “I was going through some of the old mission logs and the Leviathan's crew rosters. I came across an Ensign ASHER, a very interesting character.”

“He was.” Aki admitted. She hadn't spent much time with the Ensign, but the Leviathan's former Chief Science officer Chu Barker was very familiar with ASHER. Aki made a quick decision.

“Lieutenant, meet me in the main hanger bay at 18:00 hours.” She stated. “I think you should come with me on a little trip. I was intending to go alone, but I think you maybe interested in who I am going to meet.”

“Understood.” Stefen replied. “How long will we be gone ?”

“A day or so.” Aki stated. “We'll be back before the Leviathan leaves for SB 901.”

With that Stefen rose from his chair and headed out of the door, leaving Captain Taybar alone.

*He's in for a surprise.* Aki thought, a smile crossing her face.
