Juran Heims

Standing at just over six feet tall, Juran is an imposing figure onboard ship. He has hair which is almost black and unusually for a half-Betazoid green eyes. He also has a tattoo of an old Welsh dragon on his right arm.

Born on Earth in the country of Wales, his father was Human and his mother was Betazoid. His mother works as a counsellor at Starfleet HQ and his father was a scientist working at Utopia Planitia in the research and development unit. He worked mainly on newer ways of travelling, including adaptations of the slipstream technology and even time travel. Although interstellar propulsion was his job, Juran's father had a passion for history and he enjoyed learning about the Celts and his heritage being Welsh. In turn he passed that interest onto Juran who in turn became very proud of his Welsh heritage.

Juran grew up learning his father work, although he found the theory a lot more boring than the practical work. When the time came, Juran decided he would follow in his father footsteps and join Starfleet, but after spending his childhood listening to a scientist, decided he would go for a more practical role, to which he studied engineering courses and operations.

Upon graduating, Juran was assigned back to Utopia Planitia, where he works alongside his father. He was already heavily involved in analysing the data on Quantum Slipstream Propulsion brought back by the USS Voyager in 2377. Starfleet was attempting to create a fully working prototype of the QSD and in late 2382 installed the first QSD prototype into an Apollo class vessel, the USS Leviathan.

By the time the USS Leviathan was launched, Juran had already been reassigned to the USS Gemini, an experimental prototype vessel with a coaxial warp core, another technology brought back by the crew of Voyager. He was assigned as the senior engineer, overlooking the co-axial drive and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant (JG) in 2382, serving on the Gemini for four years.

In February 2385, he was reassigned once more back to Utopia Planitia, where he was assigned to a project designed to transfer the Quantum Slipstream drive from the crashed USS Leviathan-A into a Meteor class vessel, the USS Tolken, which was later renamed the USS Leviathan-B. When the Leviathan-B was pushed into service early, Juran remained onboard to ensure that the drive was operational.

After travelling to the Gamma quadrant and returning with the crew of the USS Taurus, Juran was joined on the Leviathan-B by Lieutenant Stelv N'akae, an Andorian who was to work alongside Juran on the QSD. Whilst Juran would continue to adapt and maintain the drive itself, N'akae was there to look at the dynamics of the drive, looking for ways to improve and develop the drive further.

Juran is friendly and open, he likes to socialise and be around people, but does not like his word challenged. Juran has developed a lot of pride over the years, and has little tolerance to people who question anything he cares for.

Juran enjoys going to the gym and staying fit.

He also enjoys studying the ancient martial arts of Earth and having become a black belt in Ju Jitsu. He still practises and teaches the art to others, while beginning his study into another form of martial arts, kick boxing.

Juran also enjoys socialising, and plays a mean game of pool.
