Tom Walker

Ensign Tom Walker is a tall, fit individual standing at over six feet. He has a slightly heavy build and had a tendency to rush from place to place.

Tom was born in 2358 at San Mateo, across the bay from San Francisco. His parents, Julian and Fiona Walker were both Starfleet officers. His parents met whilst they were both serving aboard the USS Pismo Beach, a science vessel operating in the Beta quadrant.

From an early age, Tom was guided towards a career in Starfleet by his parents, something they firmly believed in. However wanting to first prove himself a man on Earth, at the age of seventeen he left his home and travelled to Asia. During his four years away from his family and friends he survived using only technology dated to before the third world war. The one exception to this rule was a small distress beacon his mother had insisted by take along. He never used it, even though on several occasions he found himself in life-threatening situations and once close to death.

However, at the age of twenty one, he returned home to discover that the previous year his mother had been killed whilst on assignment close to the Romulan neutral zone. The reasons and cause of her death remained highly classified, a fact which provided of little comfort for her husband and son.

Regardless of the lack of explanation from Starfleet, Tom made his application to join Starfleet and the following years he started at the Academy. He wanted to study the Operations sector, with a view to specialising in advanced communications. This interest in communications stemmed from his parent's research into alternatives to sub-space transmissions, with aims to initiate communication with another galaxy.

Tom feels proud to be wearing the uniform that his parents served, and feels that wherever his mother is, she is happy to see him progressing through what should be a fruitful career.

After the academy, he served aboard the USS Geronimo-E as an Assistant Operations officer. A year later, Tom was given a commendation by Captain Turwiliga for bravery whilst on an Away Mission. He saved two Crewmen and a Lieutenant from rogue marauding Ferengi slavers who took the away team by surprise. After serving two years on the Geronimo-E, Tom requested a transfer to a vessel of deep space exploration. He was assigned to the Leviathan B where he hoped to continue his parents research.

Tom is often quietly spoken around COs, but sure to speak up on topics of Comms and Surviving in harsh conditions. He is always first to volunteer for an Away Mission, especially when the circumstances are not ideal. He is serious about his work, but not obsessed and enjoys Holodeck Rockclimbing programs above any other. Tom could be called a quiet achiever, who is not afraid to risk his own life to better serve Starfleet.

Holodeck Programs: Horse riding, Rock Climbing and mid 20th Century Style (WW2) Commando Training Programs (set on the highest difficulty always!)

Also enjoys fly fishing (the real stuff) and ties his own flies during his off hours. Currently he has a selection of one hundred and fifty four Flies, including a Klingon KunTa used to catch Klingon Salmon which can grow to six feet in length and have teeth like a Terran Shark's.
