"Final Focus"

Author: Ensign Tyvek and Captain Saitek (Retired)
Earthdate: 860125
Location: OPS on Starbase 901

It was very good to be back at work, Tyvek concluded, following his discovery on Serenity. Vulcans seldom got embarrassed but half-human ones did. And having his new soul mate meet his famous father in a compromising position was almost the last straw.

Across the screen of his scanner he now focused on the perimeter sweep of the system. Ships entered the sector and exited on a half hour basis and it was his job to maintain an active count of any anomalies near the Briar Patch. And then it occured to him.

The Briar Patch was causing himself and Shara to have feelings for one another. Well, not by itself, but its youthful powers were affecting both of them in ways one could only imagine.

Even now as he tried to focus, he could feel her in a sonic shower. He made a small adjustment at his post in order to not attract any peer attention due to the effect the thought was causing.

Shara! he mentally beckoned.

Transporter Room 1…

The device magically brought to the station a most impressing hero of ages past. Dressed in his fully military attire, Captain Saitek, formerly of the Vengeance, had come to the station to see his son.

"At ease, Ensign. Could you direct me to the Operation Center?" asked Saitek.

"Sir, the turbo lift will direct you to that deck," replied the young woman.

"Very good, carry on."

Riding the lift gave him the moments to compose himself due to his debilitating condition.

OPS…

Tyvek had cleared his thoughts due to their intoxicating effects when the lift door opened to reveal its passenger.

"Captain on the bridge!" a junior officer recognized as he summoned his peers to attention.

"As you were. I would speak with Ensign Tyvek," replied the retired Vulcan Captain dressed in his dress uniform.

"Very well, sir. Commander K'Tag, permission to leave my post?" asked Tyvek.

"Granted, Ensign. And Captain, it is protocol to give prior notice to the station before boarding a starbase," replied the Klingon Commander.

"You are correct, Commander. My apologies," replied Saitek.

As they exited, neither said a word until they arrived at an empty section of the corridor.

"Tyvek, I would like to explain my actions."

"That is unnecessary. You have apparently lost your mind and require medical attention,' replied his son.

"To insult me is illogical. Tyvek, I have Bendii syndrome and was forced to retire my commission. I came to Serenity to spend my last years near you. The woman you met, rather shamefully is a concubine of mine I have recently become attached to. In a lot of ways she reminds me of your mother," Saitek explained.

"Spare me father. In the words of the humans, TMI."

"What is TMI?" asked Saitek.

"Too much information. I am not interested in your sexual exploits," replied Tyvek.

"And I suppose that your little friend was with you for a non-sensual reason? One good aspect to my condition is the heightened mental capacity. You came to Serenity to introduce Shara to me as your soul mate." Saitek replied.

Well it had been said....
