It is with great pleasure I get to write to you, and inform you of a very unique opportunity. On stardate 8602.08, Serenity Earthdate February 08, 2386, you will have a Klingon bird of prey enter the solar system. The bird is on a return trip from exploring Nipron, near the border of the G'kra Republic space.
In appliance to the new peace treaty between the Federation and the Klingon Empire, they will be resupplying at Starbase 901, and they will be staying on the Serenity Colony. Once the Bird has been resupplied, they will remain in the system for one earth month. It seems their Captain was fatally injured in a skirmish with an unknown force. Until a qualified Klingon officer is able to report to the Bird's location, the empire has appointed you commanding officer of the IKS Fer'lij.
It seems the Klingon high council is impressed by your excellent performance record, and because your blood is of an honorable house and you are near and available you are an obvious choice. Congratulations on your first command! Don't think for a moment this means you can slack off on any of your already assigned duties.
