"What a Beautiful Day... For Science"

Author: Brenton Risque
Earthdate: April 16, 2386
Location: Inbound Runabout

Casually Brenton scanned Serenity City as the runabout circled in for landing. Quickly checking his map he placed the six major "quarters" of the city. He also noted that the Taylor Oceanographic Institute was virtually midway between the two major human habitats on the planet. Those being Serenity City itself and an SFMC Marine base on the eastern coast of Serenity's largest continent. The Institute was the only man made structure on the smallest sizeable landmass on Serenity. Planetary settlement had been so recent, that no official pronouncement had been made as to the names of the three major continents on planet. More important things needed attention on a fringe planet.

Gently the craft came to rest adjacent to concourse J of the star port. Gathering those things most important to him he waited for enough room to walk and exited the runabout through one of the doorways that had been indicated by the assistant during the always amusing "exit" presentation prior to liftoff.

Walking slowly enough for all those around him to keep pace he visually noted the signs, structures and most importantly races visible in this, the star port for the planet Serenity--Gateway to the Briar Patch.
