Tap "Doctor Risque to medical. Beam Nick to medical immediately." Quietly the figure of a limp Nick lying in his father's arm melted away.
"Mike, you hang out and talk some more to your dolphin friends, Okay?"
"Sure, dad," Mike replied slipping the headset back over his ears.
Quickly Brenton ran to the turbo lift and made his way to the medical bay. This had happened before so Brenton wasn't overly worried. His concern was still the fact that no one could pin down the exact cause.
Jogging into the medical bay he beheld Nick sitting at the end of one of the beds being examined by Dr. Mallory, the Institute's medical doctor.
"He was awake by the time we got him here, Brenton."
"I'm okay, dad," Nick said, a slight grin playing across his face.
"Good. Did you see or hear anything this time?"
"It felt like those bright lights in Mike's room kinda picked me up."
"Anything hurt?" Brenton asked crouching in front of his son to better look into his eyes.
"I'm kinda tingly... like pins and needles."
"Circulation's fine," Mallory responded to Brenton's questioning look.
"Okay, buddy. Go finish that remedial word story you were working on. I'll be down in a sec."
"What happened?" Mallory asked stowing the equipment he had pulled out to examine Nick.
"Mike was using that new bio-translator to talk to some of the dolphins. One of them was talking about the colors we were all giving off and then there was this rainbow colored light pulse and the next I knew Nick was laying in my arms."
"Hmmmm.... I'll finish going over the readings and cross reference them with his file, but I didn't see anything different than the others."
"Okay, thanks Doc."
On his way to Mike and Nick's room it occurred to Brenton that he had also felt like something was tugging at him when he was hit by the light pulse.
